Unless I start working we are going dry until Friday morning then coconut water and some strawberries and some beefs to break then we only eat between seven and nine am because of the circadian meridians and never eat again after that and I'm gonna get ripped and one day put the penis in a woman again

Like many things it's extremely healthy in moderation.
It's all about activating autophagy, where you body recycles and deals with broken cells and stuff.
Intermittent fasting (eating within an 8 hour window and not eating for 16 hours) makes you fast a little bit each day for daily maintenance.
That's pretty much in.
The weight loss comes from if you eat your whole foods and fiber all within an 8 hour window, it's going to be difficult to eat too many calories without stuffing yourself silly.

I never believed in the autophagy claims, I don't fast for that reason.

Most of all /fast/ing for me is a behavior trick best condensed into something like:
"It is easier to eat nothing at all than to eat something but in deficit."
For cutting down weight, fasting has always been the easiest way for me. Alternate day fasting is good enough but you can do more.
Anonymous No.76353849 [Report]

Its easier said than done for most people. Some people are deep down fats even if they aren't fat and binge eat when given the opportunity. If I can hit a 24 hour fast I basically whiped out an entire day of calories and I'm set for the week in terms of cutting. All of the magic fasting shit doesn't matter in that case

My life is so shit in so many ways. It's so hard not to eat. It's one of the few things that give me a moments relief. But I'm on day 2 of fasting due to obesity off frozen nuggets and pizzas, and the hunger is hard. But I know it wouldn't be hard if I had anything to be happy about. I have to take one of the only pleasures I have from myself for my future. What future? This hopeless future. I hope I can stay resolved that if I'm going to die miserable and not having anything I love, then Im better off doing it in shape even if it means I get no feeling of pleasure anywhere ever again.

Hopefully with enough fasting you can start to look at your situation in a different way
For me the worst part would be the skin surgery you will eventually need
Idk if it makes you feel better I didn't breathe through my nose until I was 36 and I grew up undocumented and couldn't have the career I should have, also didn't have medical care growing up so I grew up with a misaligned jaw because of mouth breathing
Being obese is kind of like that

I've been doing 72-hour fasts each week for the last couple weeks, and I'm continuing each week until the end of next month. I think the biggest thing is to time your fast so it doesn't get awkward with going out with people or other people coming over. That's why I never fast over the weekend. I already had to explain to people "I'm fasting" when I was invited over for a dinner on a Wednesday night last week when I was already nearly 48-hours in.

when I first started fasting, I wanted to be extreme about it and do month long extended fasts without interruption. sure, you can try and be extreme about it, but it's better to do something feasible that you can stick to for a long period of time. consistency trumps intensity.

so with that in mind, if you're reading this thread and interested in fasting, you should do this:
1. start out by doing 16 hour fasts, do it for a couple of weeks, see how you feel
2. once you get comfortable (i.e. you aren't ravenous by the time the 16th hour rolls around), you can extend fasts up to 72 hours.
3. you want to lose fat? then you will have to do weekly fasts, but you need to figure out what works for you. some people do OMAD twice a week; some people do 36 hour fasts on and off all week long (ADF); me personally I do a slightly extended ADF (44 hours between monday and tuesday, then have a 5 hour eating window on tuesday afternoon, then do a 16 hour fast in between tuesday and wednesday, and have another 5 hour eating window on wednesday before going back to another 44 hour fast. on the weekends I do 16 hour fasts before starting again on monday)
4. make sure you do true fasts, i.e. it's better to not have artificial sweeteners, broths, low cal creamers in your coffee, or anything with calories. if it's too unbearable, then switch up the length of your fast, rather than incorporate calories.
5. ???
6. nigger nigger nigger.
7. during eating windows, you can't stuff your face. you have to eat just enough to be full and that's it. you can have two meals in a 5 hour period, then back to business. if you overeat, you won't lose weight.
8. do this shit until you get where you need to be and then work on a maintenance regimen (OMAD is good, or just 20:4 if you like, but you'll probably want some sort of daily eating regimen).
9. IMPORTANT ignore the memetards like the snake diet man, doing extreme shit doesn't work.
10. it's a lifestyle, not something temporary.

You need fat, not protein, otherwise you'll be kicked out of deep ketosis. Your body ramps up testosterone by like 150% when fasted to preserve muscle, not sure what it does while eating keto

Yeah that shit is possible but mentally torturing. You start missing the feeling of eating, even if you aren't hungry you'll be thinking about food constantly. I can't imagine going more than 5 days, but then again I've never been severely overweight. The motivation to lose weight could definitely be enough to push you through that.

>start out by doing 16 hour fasts
I went straight into a 3 day fast and it felt like torture, but ever since then I've been on keto and done a total of four 3 day fasts, they've progressively gotten easier.

the problem with dirty fasting is that you can spike your insulin during the fast with some of the solutions that people offer, like diet sodas/artificial sweeteners, so you're better off avoiding that shit unless you know for certain that you're not getting a huge insulin spike off it.
>>76364239
coffee and tea are bitter, and bitter flavors don't spike insulin. don't forget that the point of fasting is to manage weight by controlling one's hormones (i.e. lowering insulin, becoming leptin sensitive). anyone who tells you that the point of fasting is to reduce one's caloric consumption is misguiding you. fasting works because it helps you manage your insulin resistance. if you're fat you're very likely insulin resistant.

so, if you do decide to fast, make sure it's a "clean" or "true" fast. you're fucking up if you have any food energy, or anything that can spike insulin, whatsoever. stick to unflavored water (you can do carbonated but it has to be unflavored), black coffee and tea.

insulin regulates your blood glucose levels, so insulin is a necessary hormone in your body. however, you need to manage your levels of insulin. if your insulin is too high too often you can become insulin resistant, which means your body needs to produce more of it to deal with your blood glucose levels compared to that of a normal person.

insulin promotes the storage of fat. when insulin is high, your body will not release stored fat for energy, because insulin's job is to take glucose out of the blood, use what it can immediately, and then store the excess as fat. when you're storing fat, you're not burning it. therefore, if your insulin is constantly high, your body will never tap into its fat stores for energy. therefore, in order to begin ketosis, insulin must be low, and fasting is a means by which one can drop their insulin levels low enough to facilitate the process of the breakdown of fat.

if you spike your insulin, even if you're not eating, you're preventing your body from tapping into its fat stores for energy, thereby interrupting the process of ketosis/lipolysis.

I didn't get that this time around (or if I did I got it while fasting and was too busy to not notice it), but I did get the rash. If you've never done fasting, going into a 3+ day dry fast would be a herculean task. I honestly recommend easing into a keto diet first (90% meat, some fruits like avocadoes and berries, keep carbs to a minimum, no bread / rice) for a few days and then after switching to carnivore.

if you're feeling weak, then dial it back. there's no specific answer anyone can give you, you have to experiment for yourself to find a regimen that works for you. 72 hour fasts are extreme if you want to do them with any regularity. you should try 40 hour fasts, and if that's too hard then back down to 36. for me, the sweet spot seems to be between 40 and 44 hours, ain't no shame in doing less though.

the point is consistency is important. you need to be able to do this shit without fail for the unforeseeable future, indefinitely, as a lifestyle, until you can get to where you need to be. once you're approximating your targets, you can then reassess your situation and modify your regimen to something less taxing.

it all depends on what you want to do.

Fat cells are releasing toxins, plus your body is detoxing itself all over.
If you do enough fasting your body will eventually get clean, so even on a 3-4 day fast you won't get the achey flu detox symptoms.

Fat cells store toxins, and there's tons of studies showing toxins rising in the blood after extreme weightloss.

If you eat a clean diet, say things like beef + rice, then fasting will also be easier. If you eat crap like seed oils, then fasting will be more painful.

Nope.

I rode 15 miles yesterday and I'm doing another 15 miles today, on day 2 of fasting. I love it. Great fasting exercise, you can go at exactly the pace that is good for you and still get a good workout.
Anonymous No.76376824 [Report] >>76378098
About 5 years ago I did a 60 day fast and got down to 260lbs. I only recently learned that's about 20lbs off of a healthy weight for my build, I still though I had another 80lbs to go. I fell off hard about a year later when I picked up a nasty habit of eating fast food for every single meal through a new job at the time. I now weigh 400lbs. I've tried fasting a more than a few times in the past 2 years, but I've constantly struggled due to the far greater stress I'm under now compared to then, with two kids running around and no real ability to just zone out and ignore the cravings/hunger. I also kept trying to fast in a cold turkey fashion, doing no prep work prior to the fast and just assuming I could deal with the transition to ketosis from a carb heavy diet.
I'm now 10 days into very low carb keto. The plan is to start my fast this Friday, and to go at least 10 days. For the first 5 days I've got a no-contact rule in place with my family, to minimize distractions and stress and give myself as many mental resources as possible to resist the temptation to give up again. Wish me luck lads, and if you have any advice please share it. 10 days is my minimum goal just to justify the 5 days of leaving my wife with the kids, the plan is to fast, refeed on strict keto, and then fast again after about 3 or 4 days, but if I can just pull off another 60 day fast then that would be ideal.

A lot of acid reflux is caused by bile moving into your stomach, rather than down your digestive tract.
The bile contains toxic substances that your liver is trying to shit out, and will cause your skin to peel and ulcers.

An easy way to remedy this is eating a spoon of charcoal, which is better than all pharma drugs at binding bile, but with zero side-effects.
Within 30 seconds of eating the charcoal, your acid reflux should be gone.

It only seems like that at first. If you try to fast down to lower weight it gets much harder. That's why most people who fast are very obese people and they always stop short and blow back up.

People start obesity as children and live their whole lives with the fat. This forces the body to adapt to being fat which throws off test and estrogen levels. These new levels set 'being fat' as the baseline for the body. So after you live like that your body feels like it's dying when you try to remove the calories that it has adapted to.

So the theory goes that you fast and then keep the fat off for a prolonged period and your body will adapt to that new condition that you force it to exist in. But it is a constant discomfort that goes beyond just palatable food.

When you fast low enough you realize there was always an animal inside of you that you were wrestling with over control. Thus you are not the animal you are the disciplined force that controls the animal.
