It's not meant for people aiming to be "strong", it's made for people that want to merely look strong (i.e. not soldiers or police. But like bouncers and fuckboys). And it's aiming to do that via increasing sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, instead of myofibrilar hypertrophy. And low intensity, high volume exercises should be great for that, if you subscribe to the science between the two types of hypertrophy at least.
Picrel is the protocol I used, which is his "operator" template from TB1 book (and I also tried the programs from the green protocol book). This one is much less autistic, the loads are 70% up to 95% of your 1RM. The lifts being WPU, bench press, squat and (once a week) deadlifts. This is the one I used, had success with and read enough about to know that it's not nonsense. Don't care about the goals of the mass protocol book, so I mostly ignored it, nor will I endorse it.
Whether you like the high amount of conditioning (e.g. steady state cardio, though it does switch up after base building) is up to you. I personally loved it, specially since I was a bit of a chublord before. It helps with my recovery times and it feels cool to be able to run a decent half-marathon on demand at any point. And I guess if some soldier wants to train with the "military training book", running should probably be the #1 exercise... So it makes sense - but I don't care about that, I benefited from it independently.
