Last summer I met an old guy in his late 80s who was built like a brick shithouse. He told me he was a wandering strongman in his youth and had been weightlifting all his life and he did look remarkably young and active. The old man still benched 2pl8s well into old age. Exercise truly is a privilege, you'd be a fool not to stay active.

Dumb meme. Lifting smart and responsibly is the elixir of life. Not only can it extend your lifespan, but it also prolongs your health span, and will dramatically increase your quality of life as you get older.

I’ve worked in the trades with people in their 60s who kept active and worked out and they are sharp and can talk shit with the youngins and they can stand on their feet all day, and I’ve seen people who don’t do anything, retire at 55, who’s sit on the couch all day wanting to unalive themselves cause their bodies don’t work anymore

Honestly? Yeah. Lifting even if you hate it is objectively one of the best uses of your time. Also lifting consistently will make you not only live longer but better. My boomer parents are 70 but are more active than most people I see on the street half their age. Walking, running, biking, golfing, going to the gym. They've never had to replace anything, no surgery or meds. Thin with healthy hearts. I've seen people at their age looking like shrimps their backs are so rounded, hobbling along with walkers or sitting in wheelchairs barely able to breath begging for death daily.

Lift anons for the love of god. You'll feel better and thank yourself in a few decades.

I work in the health industry and people with the worst health and lifestyle choices sometimes get to very old age. They just do in conditions that make their life a living hell for a couple of decades before they actualy die.

>I'm so glad i got all those cheevos for games I was bored of after the campaign
>I'm so glad I finished those movies or tv shows that didn't really enrich my life or make me feel anything besides mild contentment
>I'm so glad I went to all those parties and social gatherings with people I never really connected with or understood
The parts of life for me that aren't new game or sex are mostly filler but that doesn't mean filler has to leave you worse off.

my parents are decrepit in their 70s, obesity, lung problems, lower back problems, eyesight, cancer, mom fell and broke her hip, something on the feet that makes the sole hurt like crazy, and i could go on. they had never looked good, basically just mild obesity until 65 or so, but then one thing hit them and then another and everything compounded on top of everything else and i often wonder if it wouldn't be better that they died. the cancer was the lesser evil, she got over it

this is a reminder to be humble. what you have now will go away

i also think about how many years they still have left to endure

This is my father in law. He has the worst lifestyle I’ve seen of anyone.

He’s actually hostile at the thought of eating anything that isn’t processed goyslop, has diabetes that he doesn’t manage, and literally gets no physical activity. Like actually sits on the couch all day watching CNN.

He’s 65 and immobile now. He wasn’t in good health before but was he’s ridden in the hospital for months due to an infection and lost whatever muscle mass he had left and now has to use a walker.

Anyways the point is this guy has survived so many things that other healthy people die of. Diabetes, cancer, sepsis infection, bone eating disease. All these things that one of would have killed people, he keeps bouncing back from.

It’s truly a shame cause he’s a piece of shit and offers nothing to anyone. But since we live in Canada the tax payer spends hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to keep him alive so he can yell at trump on the TV

I know that's bad but it could be times worse. There are people who basically survive on painkiller injections every month for years because they can't stand the pain. And when the doctors ask them they do everything perfectly: zero alcohol, walking 30 minutes every day, a bland ass diet of chicken and lettuce and no soda, yeah right. They never ask "how can I treat this", they scream "give me medication".
And they get all the medication they want. For free! it's insane.

I am extremely glad I lifted for 7 days a week the past 10.5 months and I'll keep doing it as long as I can and it makes me glad.
I'm 22 so this is gonna have an impact on the quality of woman I can marry, how energetic I am able to be as a father, what people think of me based on my looks as I get into a career, etc.

I can’t even conceptualize someone being more unhealthy than him. I don’t even know how he’s alive. Is some cruel joke when men a million times his superior die for nothing. When he was in the hospital the doctor said he was his worse patient.

after having this job for a while I've came up with some conclussions on the human mind. people who didn't receive proper education when they were young think differently than those of us who did, because they didn't develop the neuronal links or whatwever the fuck.
Like, say, you think "today I will eat breakfast, lunch, a snack and dinner" in the morning and that solves the problem of hunger. It seems natural to you, because you're educated, it's a subcounscious process. but some people are more primitive and don't think like that, instead thet think "I'm hungry so I'll eat". so they eat whatever the fuck they have at hand whenever they are hungry with no premeditation.
their brains work like that for everything. health is the same, they don't think "I'll work out and diet to be healthy", they think "I feel like shit so I'll go to the doctor for medication". and that adds up for years of being that retarded and developing all possible health conditions.
life is sustained against nature by consumption of shitloads of medication, financed by medical insurance. and that can last for decades, with all sorts of surgeries and hospitalizations in the process

Yeah I suspect you’re right.

I think something went seriously wrong in his development. He’s essentially a giant baby, unwilling to do anything to upkeep any facet of his life. He also has zero emotional intelligence, and food is like a drug to him. You can literally see it in his mood. When he gets goyslop, he acts over the top happy and joyful. But god forbid my mother in law makes something vaguely healthy and less hyper-palatable, he will literally yell at her and sulk for the rest of the night.

I don’t even know what my post is now. I just hate him and I’m venting.

It’s hard for me to believe people can treat their bodies so poorly. If I don’t get some excercise, minimum 5k steps, and eat healthy for a day, I feel like dog shit and hate myself.

I also wish I lived in the US so I didn’t have to subsidize peoples poor life choices
