I've had DOMS for 2 days after my 1st gym session
Triceps and upper chest hurt

Is this normal?

yeah, that's pretty normal. it will get better once you are in the habit of going regularly. I find it helps to push through the pain and get moving, even something as simple as going for a walk, rather than sitting around feeling sore. you'll be okay, buddy.

Believe it or not. The more often you workout the less sore you'll tend to feel

Ease into it. Other anons are right, it'll go away and eventually you won't really have DOMs anymore. At least not to the same extent.

Best advice is to focus on form rather than weight and let your body accumulate after a few weeks of training.

>1st gym session
yeah that's totally normal
DOMS went away for me after about 3 months of serious lifting, though I still get em when I start doing a new lift
keep at it fren we are ALL going to make it

So doms is not a sign of muscle damage?

It's a physical response to exercise, but it's not an indicator of significant injury if that's what you mean. If you're really sore do stretches every hour throughout the day.

it's been my stumbling block multiple times now, i've even tried working out through DOMS but can't
Do I just stick to 2x a week for the first few weeks of lifting?

I had the same issue when I started out. Genuinely you have to work through the pain, lift light through the days you're really sore, eventually your body WILL adapt and you won't have doms (at least anywhere near to the same extent).
It could also be a protein intake and sleep issue, begs never eat enough protein even when they think they do, or sleep for six hours everyday wondering why it takes a whole week to heal.

>Genuinely you have to work through the pain, lift light through the days you're really sore
i'm going to do just that anon thanks i was planning on skipping tomorrow
>protein intake and sleep issue
yeah you're probably right, sleep is fine for me but I struggle to hit 2g/kg so that's where I'm going wrong.

it's definitely not a sign of injury, if that's what you mean. It is normal to be extremely sore after performing novel exercises with sufficient intensity, but your body will adapt. after a few weeks, the DOMS will be much less intense.

2 days isn't even that much, do a solid leg day as a beginner or coming off a break and you'll be sore for an entire week

Very normal
I expect a week of DOMS the first day back after months of not using a muscle

You should pray for DOMS every single day.

So I can work out again if I have doms ? I thought I had to rest until I had no doms to be fully recovered

dont be hyper fixated on this, you will have DOMS when you're new to working out no matter what
