I think it's actually more common than people realize but in the niche of people who are cutting or doing cardio with lifting. It takes me like no more than 2 weeks of a steep cut to be running into almost all of these or when adjusting to larger volume routines at maintence. How about best of both worlds? One medium set for a warmup, and one set to failure per muscle group. Go again when you're not sore anymore. Could be 2 days, could be a week or more. There is no actual arbitrary schedule. Rotate by sections, say chest and back, wait a day, legs, wait a day, and then shoulders and arms? 3 workouts, at least 6 days across, 30-45 minutes per workout. Feel free to do cardio and/or mobility on "rest days." OH wait, that's how the original HIT was programmed before Mentzer decided to word vomit his theory crafted philosophical exercise. If you're not getting stronger at least every other workout, rest more. If you're getting stronger every workout, press ahead. Aim for failure between 6-12 reps, 15-20 for legs, add weight when you hit the top of your rep range. Super simple.
