Agricultural man are just more numerous, because although their food quality was sub par, their quantity allows for a higher population count. And agriculture means a smaller portion of the population can handle all the food requirement of a society unlike hunter gatherers where its all hands on deck to feed everyone.
That means in an agricultural society you can have artisans, smiths, craftsmen who can work on other aspects of the society besides food.
The seasonal aspect of agriculture, plus its ease of storage, also allow the agriculture society to have well fed armies when they are off season, while hunter gatherers must either hunt all year or enter a sub period of hibernation.
Its never about 1v1, but society vs society, and hunter gatherers are always at a disadvantage against farmers.
