I need some advice. I played volleyball for years and trained a lot so now I have way too much muscle in my thighs but no ass. My legs look disproportionate compared to the rest of my body and its driving me crazy.

I dont want to accept it. I already went through a depressive phase and stopped playing, but now I want to work on having a proportional and actually attractive body.

Is there any way I can reduce the size of my quads? Should I just starvemaxx until I lose all the muscle and then start building only glutes and core?

no, you do hip thrusts while eating maintenance calories tor recomp or a small surplus (if you're comfortable gaining a small amount of fat or you're already trained, which i will assume you are not). just target glutes and nothing else in training if you're obsessed with shrinking your thighs but it seems a little bit silly to want thigh atrophy while growing your ass as opposed to growing your ass to catch it up to your thighs. but to each their own

very simple. do not do exercises that target quads. isolate glutes. weighted hip thrusts are what u need. they work be sure to squeeze at the top and progressively overload the weight. 4 sets of 10 or so should suffice. 2x/week. if you have access to a gym, most have those machines that isolate glutes, where lay on your stomach and kick back like a donkey. do those too.

as far as diet goes, eat enough protein for ass to grow.

With only slight hyperbole, there is probably more recorded content on instagram, ticktok, and youtube on "growing your glutes" than any other topic. You just have to perform hip thrusts, stiff-legged deadlifts, and bulgarian split squats with very specific form to target the glutes.
As far as making your quads smaller, not gonna happen unless you become bedridden or wheelchair bound, so just try to count your blessings.

people tend to be either glute or quad dominant, and if you're quad dominant it might be more difficult to add muscle to the glutes rather than the quads. that being said, it's not at all impossible to add mass to the glutes while avoiding adding as much to the quads. hip thrusts are the best glute isolation exercise. i would eat in a small caloric surplus (or just at maintenance), and make sure you're getting enough protein (ideally 1g/lb of body weight). other exercises that are good for the glutes: cable kickbacks, hip abductions, hyperextensions, rdls, and bulgarian split squats (although you get a bit of quad action with bulgarians). i'd suggest finding a female fitness influencer online who is quad dominant but managed to build her glutes. that's probably who you want to listen to.

You can't accidentally maintain legs that are noticeably big unless you're heavy as hell. It's about proportions, and I for one like hips a little wider than waist but not a huge taper down the legs. I don't know what kind of mental issues would make you do a 180 from being a volleyball player to a thinspo/pro-ana chick. But your anxiety is unfounded for two reasons.

Firstly, athletic/muscular physiques on women are currently more popular than they've ever been. Secondly, muscle hypertrophy doesn't last indefinitely if you're not stimulating those muscles, it's just not energetically efficient. Otherwise a bodybuilder could get huge, never work out again, and stay huge. Just change up your workouts to cardio or glute isolations or whatever and your thighs will get smaller. No need to starve yourself.

It IS possible. I have big quads even with a BMI of 21 (and I also had them when I wasnt depressed and had a BMI of 18, probably because I played volleyball a lot and all the jumping likely made the muscles grow). Im still not fat but since Ive become less active my thighs now have a layer of fat they didnt have before which makes them look even more disproportionate compared to the rest of my body and it makes me feel disgusting. I also dont want a big, fat ass either. I just want a normal butt and skinny, toned legs.

-The mirror always supercedes it, and arguments for it say it's usually accurate, but the criterion they're using is literally the mirror, so you don't need BMI at all.
