5'10
Started going to the gym about 5 months ago.
Went from 150 lbs -> 172 lbs (currently).
Do I keep bulking or have I gained too much fat?

If you had no training experience, then keep bulking if you're making progress. You look low muscle mass rather than high fat. Don't focus on getting too shredded as you still won't look muscular even at low body fat. Higher muscle mass makes cutting easier as you will have a higher baseline metabolism so you can eat more while losing weight.

A bulk should last at least 5-6 months. Maybe slow down the rate of weight gain to 1kg/month. You seem to have been doing twice that but newbie gains are quite fast. The best thing you can do to improve progress is to track all your macros if you're not already doing this. Nutrition is key.

Start a cut in a couple of months time. Don't get too lean as you'll want to start bulking again and sub-12% body fat isn't an optimal body fat to naturally gain muscle for some people. 12-20% is the optimal range.

What would you estimate my current body fat percentage is?
Anonymous No.76411596

Nta but around 20%. For muscle to be visible you need at most 16%, but you can achieve that with cardio and lifting heavy since it boosts your metabolism. Don’t worry about bulking, train for long term and eat clean all the time.

How is this possible? You are short and tiny, more like 150lbs right now.

When youre at 225+ bench everything is way easier, like youll put more strength on refeeding/cutting than bulking once youre good at diet timing and in tune with lifting freq/intensity. Id be on a bench pl block focused on heavy 1-2x/wk and trybto hit delts adjacently, idk your lats and back but going actually hard after your 1st bench set, then add more wide grip etc bench.

It looks like youve been doing everything too 1-1, you still have about a year before your base is built.

how tall are you?

Oh and more heavy arched bench and super strict flat bench mp, incline and delts shit will get your serratus complex beefier its whats lacking and will make your ribcage/upper abs to look wider AND you can easily do strict reps with higher weight.

you should continue a slow lean bulk and try to put on strength, you need more muscle mass. I used to look kinda like you, bulked up to around 190lbs several years ago, then did a couple cutting phases down to about 160lbs at lightest. Pic rel me a month ago, 5'11" 165 lbs
