today i asked a guy who was selling his bike how tall he was to get an idea on if it was too big or too small for me.
he said he was 6 feet tall. for reference i am barely 5'8 without shoes.
so i show up to his house and he's barely taller than me, less than an inch difference.

For me it's the opposite where I've thought "damn, that guy's huge" and then when he gets closer I realise we are basically the same height or he is maybe an inch taller than me. I've had it happen way more often with women though where I've thought they were amazingly tall from a distance, but they were still almost always shorter than me.
