Yeah, that's not normal. When a parent makes constant jabs at your appearance especially after you’ve made progress it’s not "concern," it’s control or projection. Might be jealousy, might be her trying to keep you small (psychologically). Either way, it's toxic.

If this has been a pattern and not just a one-off, you should seriously consider going low or no contact. Look up terms like "covert narcissistic mother," "emotional enmeshment," and "maternal sabotage." I've dealt with similar things and I've recently learned my whole family is like this and had to cut all ties (they will never understand they're wrong, and will not change.) Good luck bro.
