I prefer doing a set so hard that I can't replicate it, but yeah a set that you can replicate 4 times given some rest can still be over the difficulty threshold you need to meet to induce hypertrophy. A lot of things can be made to work but they do get fewer the further you go.

Is benching once a week really enough with 5x5?

Yeah, once a week is enough to progress it once a week and you could do it with 1 set if you were determined enough. Progressing it more often is very unlikely after learning to lift and not being a complete beginner. People who do it more than once a week are called periodizationfags and they're still progressing it once a week, if that.

I've made more progress since i've went from lifting 6 days a week (every muscle group gets hit twice) to 3 days a week (every muscle group gets hit once)

Yeah, but only if you do OHP later in the week for 5x5.
So, benching 5x5 once a week is okay - however only PUSHING 1x a week for 5x5 is not enough. You want to have a upperbody push exercise frequency of 2x for 5x5 to work optimally.

Jay cutler never picks a weight that he can't do 10 reps with. It works for natties too. If you can't grow muscle with 4x10 and food you have shit genetics. Nobody cares about strenght anymore, only how you look.

Jay Cutler can do 10 reps with my deadlift max on an incline bench press so no I don't think his workout is gonna work for me.

Yeah I was my absolute strongest just doing Bench and Squat, no OHP, no Pullups, no Deadlifts.......

My Bench and Squat actually got weaker when I introduced Pullups, Deadlifts and OHP

Autistically grinding Bench & Squats multiple times a week got me a 3 plate bench and 5 plate squat

But i look liked shit
