It can work a little, but you can't really scale the load, also there aren't a ton of muscles in the hand, it's mostly tendons.

Lifting in general increases the thickness of the hands. All tissue responds to progressive overload of various stimuli. Skin/fascia gets thicker, as do tendons/ligaments/bone, etc. So, yeah, the more diverse your hand exercises are the thicker it'll get from all angles.

If you want ogre hands follow his training but keep in mind you wont have the same results in the same time frame since 1 it's one of his main regiments, he does it 24/7 and 2 he's on roids
