I have a Mali, he’s very mellow for his breed and is very gentle with people, children and other dogs.

Sometimes we goof around and we chase eachother, and when he gets within touching distance I “tag” him with my hand as a playful little bite and he gives me a little defensive bite back, with zero force.

Last week he used probably 1% or less effort when he tagged me back on my wrist and my arm went dead and the pain went up my entire arm up to my shoulder. It took like 5 minutes for my arm to stop being numb. His teeth hit my nerves but also felt like he dented my bone (unlikely)

It’s these reminders that teach me that a large dog would seriously tear you to shreds if it wanted. We are soft and slow bubblegum and one real bite renders that body part useless and maimed for life

A 4lbs kitten that I feed outside my kitchen accidentally fell into my house through the window a couple of months ago and freaked out. I grabbed her with her back towards me to avoid her claws as she was flailling around in a panic. She still caught me on the wrist, the palm and on the left side of my torso before I got her out. That little murderball left me with permanent scars and now it looks like I tried to cut my wrist. Animal teeth and claws are no joke.

I played a round with German Shepard's, and small pitbull, only way u can play with them is if u re faster and go grab their throat and pin them down, not giving them chance to have a playful bite. If u just "tag" them and ignore their heads u will get bit, but it's more fun to not even let them

The biggest dog I would ever attempt to take on is my 80 pound Pitt and if I ever did so it would 100% land me in the hospital.

Really depends, the main problem as a reasonably sane human is being able to dissociate from your body and empathy in order to retaliate optimally. For example, sacrificing an arm while you gouge out the dog’s eyes and jam your fingers in so far you can grab its brain. Any dog that’s around 100lbs and lower I’d imagine an athletic adult male could kill with blunt force trauma but much larger and I really think you gotta fight super dirty to win which not everyone can do.
