>>76446813Bullshit. There are plenty of people who don't drink. Probably 20% of the people at any given office or workplace don't drink.
In the last 20 years or so it's much more normal and acceptable to decline alcohol. And if you're in some social circle where absolutely everyone drinks and it's a big part of your lives, you may want to look at your life. I assure you, outside of your bubble it's not as common as you imagine.
You can't tell me every single person for the office goes out for that drink and does drink alcohol. Statistically almost impossible. Some vocations may attract drinkers more, so that's where it might happen; some awful factory work or restaurant work or fishing boats, or something fuckups are drawn to where you need to drink after to deal with the depression of it.
I used to suck 'em down when I was in my late teens until my mid thirties. More and more of us have given it up as we've matured. When I was 19 I'd have told you everyone drinks and it's weird not to, but I wasn't looking around beyond what I was doing. I ran with other drinkers and worked with them. Thinking back there was always someone who didn't go out with us.
Maybe in some european countries it's considered "an insult" not to take a drink, but in the USA it's been such a problem for so long here that it's understood everywhere that you don't pressure people.
The whole "I don't trust a man who doesn't drink" shit is just fucking silly and stupid. Perhaps from an age where there wasn't binge drinking and drunk driving. But since there's been booze there's been problems with booze. That's a fact going back to before the bible.
