How do you stay consistent with working out and avoid burnout?

I keep falling into a cycle where I lift consistently for a couple of months, but then lose motivation or feel too drained to keep going, even if I’m making progress, so I end up stopping for 6 to 12 months before eventually starting again.

I'm 29 and never had sex. I like to imagine a girl is squatting on my dick like that. As for your question, I enjoy working out, so I don't get any burnout.

Passive or active deloads or any variation are at your disposal to get a breather if you feel fatigued. Could be that you're pushing yourself too hard, but if you truly want strength gains then going hard is kinda inevitable. Maybe experiment with intensity though. going from a 0rir to 1-2rir can't be that bad, right?

Take a week off every few months if you're feeling tired of your routine

I just love to have a great, challenging workout and make progress. 90 minutes just for me, away from work and other life bullshit, it's like medidation. Gains don't come easy to me so I appreciate each and every pound of muscle.
I also think a lot about getting stronger and bigger. I go back a few seasons or year back and recall how I looked and what I could lift. I do the same with thinking about the future - fantasizing about repping squats with half a plate more and getting even more ripped.
And that's not even touching how lifting fixes my diet, sleep, drug use etc.
Maybe it's body dysmorphia, maybe it's just passion for the sport, but consistency has never been a problem for me.

it sounds like you could benefit from incorporating deload weeks so that you don't get burnt out

You have to walk into the gym every day. If you do not want to work out, go home immediately. But make the trip part of your daily routine.

Just don't work out so often. One day for upper body and one day for lower a week is enough. If you work out too much, you'll be tired all the time and it sucks

Here's my routine:

Bench, pull ups, ohp, rows, lateral raises, curls, tricep extensions. Then for lower body, squats and deadlifts, and I just do 2-3 sets each, 3-8 reps. Upper body takes like 60 minutes, lower body like 45 minutes or less

If the progress isn't enough to motivate you (which it should be) you need to be disciplined. Also you should enjoy lifting, what kind of routine are you doing? If you don't love the feeling of deadlifting heavy then idk what to tell you. I unironically look forward to lifting a lot of the time.

I added cardio to the end of my lifts so my lifts are just maintenance at this point to keep my muscle mass and then really im there to do cardio for the associated health benefits. Its not fun and I hate most of it but if I dont do it I hate myself even more and feel like a failure so here we are.

What a dumb fuck. Ass to grass never meant you had to touch your butt to the ground. Grass has height, it's not level to the ground. Idiots like this are why people will shit on atg cultists, if you're flexing your spine like this to go slightly lower you get what you deserve. And I have no problem squatting full rom

If you keep your back straight your legs will stop you when you hit depth. The retard in the video has no idea what she's doing, she's squatting like twice as wide as she should
