Do you train flexibility?
I wanna start martial arts again, but I can barely kick like, above the height of my knee
So I thought I'd first get a bit more flexible and I am making literally zero fucking progress on stretching. Like I'm made out of stone
When I look at somebody like Andy Hug, kicking people from above their head, I think, do you have to be alien or mutant to get to that point?

I should have been more specific
I mean when I'm raising my leg as if for a front kick
I can "raise it" forcefully on top of a table or something even a bit more, but if I'm front kicking, it's like not even 1 meter high and I already feel like I'm gonna tear apart my quadriceps or something

Side kick, I can do higher, maybe slightly above my ass level, still bad

1.87m tall if it matters

If you can handle his vibe, MovementByDavid has great stretch routines for whatever your goals are.
There could be better out there for martial arts training, but his work is at least a decent starting point.

I can't go higher than that, if I'm just lifting it in the front (if I swing or force it over an object, sure)
Maybe it could also be a strength issue? Quadriceps or something, whatever pulls the leg that way I don't exercise it

I do train flexibility using a lot of isometrics with and without weight. If you want specific kicking flexibility, Bill Superfoot Wallace's old DVD is on YouTube

Yes, I train flexibility.
For striking martial arts especially you are going to want good dynamic flexibility. That is best improved by doing dynamic stretches.
The best method for improving static flexibility is proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (pnf) stretching.
The best resource on both of these things I know of is Stretching Scientifically by Thomas Kurz.
The book lacks diverse position examples, so I would recommend the book Stretching and Flexibility by Kit Laughlin as an addendum.
