5x5 bench takes me over an hour
I do warm sets of singles incrementing very slowly to my working weight then I take around 10 minutes rest between sets

Why?

unironically Ive found myself making significantly more progress weight wise by taking super long breaks of 5-10 minutes. I think its because I can focus more on form and do the movements slower for more muscular strain

Post your bench numbers and I'll decide whether you're an annoying faggot or cool

It's because you are letting CNS fatigue dissipate.

even the most seasoned lifters don't rest more than 5 minutes between sets on their heaviest lifts.

>waahh i gotta wait 10 minutes until i can lift again
you've clearly never exerted yourself
Anonymous No.76460536
bar -> 60 -> 2 minutes -> 90 -> 3 minutes -> 110 -> 4 minutes -> 3x2 120 5 minutes each
total of 19 minutes of rest, 2 minutes of switching plates, 5~ minutes for sets

I got to 315 natty bench taking 45-60 mins for each workout. It's a small group of muscles and refractory period is long. Who cares how long it takes if you get where you want to go.

No, it is called wasting your time, even if you bench 315lbs+ or 405lbs+ you'll still be wasting your time resting more than 5 minutes and most lifters only need 3 minutes

its called grease the groove, if youre gonna do 5 sets to failure or 1rir then the only thing you wont have in your training is sarcoplasmic(most of the size in hypertrophy training is slow twitch). which you can easily do by just doing 2-4 sets of any muscle group with low rest, and doing heavier weight to failure will result in a harder pump aka myrofibular fibers.

ideally it's best to wait a day or two between reps. it's called overtraining

if youre above 4pl8s ish how long did it take you to get from 315-405x5?

>more rest within workouts also proven superior to less along with more rest between workouts being superior
Now that's something to think about. Imagine if you took two weeks of rest between each set. The progress would be phenomenal.

U have shit work capacity. I was like you too anon. I started doing pushups and chinups and swings only and only need like 2 mins rest for my 5x5s

Unless you're benching 200kg, warmups are unnecessary.
