Can you get good at running with just 2 runs a week? I asked reddit and they said it's absolutely impossible, you need to be running at least 3x a week if you want decent times for your 5k, 10k and HM.

define 'decent' times

I've only been running for a few months now, but I've found two runs a week to give my body the time it needs to recover, not sure how you can do 3 without one of them being low intensity

For reference I started at 35min 5k and I'm now at sub 24 minute 5k starting as a sedentary 31m, progress is slower than at the start but I am still getting faster with two runs a week

3 times/week is the right amount for starters.
I will not say it's impossible like Reddit with 2 runs, but it's gonna be hard to achieve a decent timing.
Also, keeping 3 times per week goes well with lifting weights. More can screw your progress.

I don't know what good is, but you can get better at running with just 2 runs a week if you don't run at all.

Felt good. Now I want to do 10K in 60 minutes.
Then I'll work to try to get 50 minutes, maybe.

research shows that more than 24 hours between aerobic training can lead to atrophy (minor when beginning)
meaning that if it is your main exercise interest, running needs to be an every day thing
if you are starting out, you'll gain more aerobic ability than you'll lose over the 2 day rest period
so basically, 3x a week until you stop improving is good. when you plateau, adding another day will likely do more than adding distance.
as soon as you're on a daily run. that's when you need to actually train certain things (v02 max, pacing, distance, etc)

im bumping this also bc the pic is sexoo

you need to be hitting cardio semi-intensely to facilitate
a quick 1 mile or stage 2 5k on an elliptical goes a long way for keeping running gains

Ya pretty much. Brain rot thinking reddit is wrong just because "LEL REDDIT! GO BACK" meme. You can definitely improve your cardio in 2 weeks, and depending on you (your starting cardio level, age, genetics, ect) you could get "decent" times(decent being completely relative).

Imagine asking if you could get good at benching 2 weeks never having benched before...

I often run 2 times a week. Some weeks I only run sat and sun, other weeks I run once on the weekend and once during the week. I'm usually doing 5 to 12 miles, occasionally longer but not often. It works well for me, running more often might be better but I do what I can, planning on a marathon this fall. My wife runs almost every day and did track&field in hs, she's definitely faster than me but not by a lot. Whatever frequency you end up on, consistency is your friend.

no it's not. the average male 'runner' completes a 5km in like 21 minutes.
so given he lifts weights instead of training to run, 22 min 5km is pretty respectable.

The most efficient results I got running was doing 2-3 times a week, one week out of the month. Realistically I almost never got around to the third time, so 2x a week for 1 week per month. Think monthly results, not weekly. Too many of you overtrain. I did this because I was too busy 3 weeks out of the month, but it worked wonders. I don't fully understand why, it just did. I don't lose any progress those 3 weeks off running, when I'm in the gym doing low volume. It didn't help to take 1 week off weights, but I think that's because lowvol is easy to keep up without deload weeks. Taking a week off really, really helped with high volume lifting, but overall highvol fucking sucks and stunts your gains.
