You can never lose muscle fibers unless you're in an extreme Africa tier starvation situation or through rhabdomyolosis. Your body can't eat muscle tissue, the body doesn't have a mechanism to store protein, only energy sources like carbs and fats. Your body will not eat your muscle, but if you stop training it you can lose muscle fiber conditioning and glycogen stores around the muscle. So strength and size can be affected. If you continue training the only thing that may be affected is your future gains because recovery may be less efficient. However, most dumbasses overeat and lower the testosterone levels by spiking insulin so much. So it could work out for you.
