Just lift heavy weights and shut the fuck up about everything else.
That's all you need to do.

Calisthenics works until it doesn't. Like everything else you can do that involves muscle tension. Lifting isn't the only way. It's the only way past a certain point.

That heavy weight needs to be in your hands, not attached to your belly.
Fat fuck.

I wonder if doing 100 pushups every day is not better than going to the gym and doing some 5x5 dumbell bench a couple of times a week.

I have trained at gyms for about 20 years, and it has not exactly changed my life that much. Im fit, but im not getting past a certain point, Its more like im maintaining what i have.

Why not just do a progressively harder calisthenics pushing exercise? Dips and weighted pushups also seem to let the shoulders breath in my opinion

Yes. That will also work until it doesn't. The point at which it doesn't is pretty high up there too. It could easily be all you need.

A hundred pushups a day can work. You could get to the point where once a week you do all 100 in a row and then even get to where you can do that every day. You won't have grown past that first point though. You will have benefitted in other ways.
Benching 5x5 twice a week can take you further in terms of size and strength unless you weight the pushups in which case I'd say they're equal and only a barbell bench has been known to load the chest better.

Browsed this board for the first time 10 years ago. Maybe I'm looking through rose tinted glasses but I remember a lot of positive attitude and a lot of WAGMI mentality on the board. A lot of funny gym stories and stuff that made it feel like we were all one big gang.

Came back recently and I swear most of the board is "what's the point in [some form of exercise ie. 'lifting', 'getting fit', 'eating healthy'] if [some random qualifier ie. 'it's all about your face', 'women are never gonna like you anyway?', 'it's all about your genetics']. A bunch of people complaining about how miserable they are, and people replying 'you're never gonna make it and they shouldn't even try'.

What the fuck happened?
