How do you avoid looking intimidating in normal clothes? If you are muscular with a shaved head and a beard. Or should I just embrace the ''tough'' guy look?

Being physically intimidating is a great deterrent for not only potential direct physical conflict but also any creeps trying to harass your gril or kids will think twice when they see you
