The emphasis here is clearly "in the sweat of thy face," which is obvious if you actually read Genesis 3. The point of the curse is that Adam (and man in general) now has to work hard and "sweat" in order to eat bread, or any food at all. Because you have to grow it yourself, which is hard work. Before Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they had an infinite supply of food to eat which they didn't need to work to grow.
