There are also no schizos out there claiming that ultra-processed foods are good for you, everyone knows they're bad and they still want them, this is why they're being produced

Yea, thats if you can even obtain the food. Do you really think all companies that sell food are in your backyard? It takes time to get the food from the source to your market.

>>76474664
So you only go to organic markets? If so, even those still have to be treated with chemicals. Im not even sure if any farmers are capable of growing a large yield without chemicals.

>>76474673
They still have to be treated with chemicals. Prolonging the time it takes for food to spoil isn't the only thing thats involved when preparing it to be sold.

You mostly eat oil anyway, without the fertilizer industry 80% of the yield would go away globally, without pesticides you would lose 20-50% of the yield (depending on the crop) and usually as local famines, without the oil-powered transport infrastructure (and the anti-spoilage treatments) another couple dozen percent would spoil between the field and the plate.
At the end of the decade you'd end up with maybe a comfy billion people.

Learn about how food is produced and makes it to the market before speaking.

>>76474796
Yea, impossible to avoid all things unhealthy when trying to produce food for the population.

>>76474801
I throwing anything bad under this umbrellas. Since the article posted by OP was about ultra processed foods, this doesn't mean "natural" foods don't undergo some kind of treatment as well.

>>76474812
Thats true. But I also said 99% of the food inside all markets would disappear. You would be left with just the meats and produce.
My point is that people would still complain about things that don't make that much of a significant impact on health. The only thing I can think of right now that needs to be solved is the microplastic problem.

>>76474831
My point is that no food is created "naturally". You cannot avoid some kind of treatment to all foods if you are buying it from some place or someone.

>>76474871
Then why don't you see foods sold with that label of "natural preservatives used"? People are so obsessed with being healthy that it would be an instant selling point above all other top shelf products. Its not that easy anon.

Ya, I agree. I already do this myself but I still do buy ultra processed foods from time to time. Mainly snacks though like cookies or maybe pizza rolls.
I think /fit/ might be a bit too autistic with this or perhaps everyone here eats too much of it to see how bad it effects their own health. I really don't even understand why people complain about it, just stop buying it but it is clearly evident people love buying it while still complaining about it.

It means you grind everything down it to its basic chemicals and then throw it all together. This means for example big food companies can buy the cheapest oil, break it down, take the chemicals they need for the food they create and voila. This is btw exactly what happened when ukraine got invaded, all big corpos replaced sunflower oil with cocunut oil. At the end they add tons of salt and sugar, so your brain gets happy from eating upf, despite it being textureless slop. Visit your local mcd or burger king for perfect examples for upfs.

These foods were created through the miracle of science, they have scientific ingredients and science is good, therefore logically these foods are good too. Not only that if something that was intended for use as a motor oil can then be marketed to the eager masses as a healthy alternative then that's green and carbon neutral and a step towards our net zero goals (also science)
