Maybe, if you prioritize technique over strength at first and spar frequently. Most strong guys including myself start hitting as hard as they can without working on technique and end up not learning the fundamentals and gassing out. This happens all the time where I train. My friend who's strong as fuck is thinking about giving up because he's not progressing while everyone else is so he gets his ass kicked on sparring because he forgets about technique, goes all out and gasses out in around 3 minutes.

I'd rather have elite boxing first and be able to compete with every other martial art.

Not really. MT lost hard to fucking Karate in WW2 and the 60s comparison macthes. It only made a comeback in the 1990s beginning Japanese MMA circuit because of Bas Rutten. But even bas started out with Karate.

Fighting is a science and art all by itself, completely apart from lifting weights. It's more related to track and field, but really, it's not close to any other sport at all. For example, all other sports are more or elss solved, they have an ideal way of training, lifting, conditioning and drilling technique.

Fighting has none of that. Every champion does everything differently. There is no perfect body type, no perfect routine, no perfect coach for any style. People think this is beacuse "hurr fighters dumb" as if stupidity somehow makes you immune to science. But the matetr of fact is that fighting is cmpletely alien to science. In over 100 years, we still have not found out what exactly happens during a knockout or how power in striking is created. Hence we usually make the cop-out of calling it "pure genetics". Ofc, we willingly overlook that in the 1800s and before punching power could be taught and was taught.

Dude got rocked when he was stepping off-balance already so it was easy to send him rocking back, side kick is a powerful kick, there's a reason Bruce Lee told you to train it. Its easy, flexible and fast to open up with, good for breaking legs too. Its like stomping the fucking air when you are stomping someone with it.

I mean mostly the first kick actually, where he was supposedly prepared for it (you can see him bracing lmao)
The light dude barely put any bodyweight into it from the video

Myau Thai vs Karate matches with Kickboxing were rigged by the way and not even footed matches at all, so I wouldn't compare them from those times. However, Karate during the 60s wasn't "Sports McDojo" Karate when used for combat but it was more akin to Okinawan Karate which is more sharp, lethal focused strikes based and some stand up grappling focused which they taught you. Mishima's style is based off of Goju-Ryu for example which is an Okinawan style if you want a comparison in the fictional realm.

The loading is like a piston and there's more weight than you think, the trick is you off-balance yourself a little when kicking by pressing against the floor with the supporting kick as you extend your leg out and lean away from the target. Legs are powerful striking implements.

> Rotational Speed (Torque) x Mass = Force output of your punch.
Its all about the rotation of the body from the core plus grip strength to build a rigid wrist so it won't break once you hit someone.

You can see the difference in the forms of what was sort of intended and what's currently in, its hard to find old school Karate Footage for some reason from the 80s and 90s when they still taught solid shit, know a source for those?
