Most men back then were already married when they started losing their hair. Nowadays men lose their hair in their early 20s and women nowadays are much more shallow and will basically see you as trash for not having hair.

There never was "embracing your hairline".
People didn't have the opportunity to save it and/or couldn't afford to do so.
Being bald has been stigmatized and laughed at since forever. You can't rewire female brain to think a half bald look is attractive.
All you can do is cope and accept that you have this unattractive feature and if you choose not to do anything about it, so be it.

I did it and I'm happy with it. I also think that a buzzed head suits me and I still get some female attention. At the same time, I have to accept that I don't look nearly as good as I did when I had a full head of hair. Better than shitty, thinning hair? Yes. Better than a full head of hair? No. One woman even told me literally that she would fuck or date me if I had hair. When people guess my age, they rarely think I'm older than I am, but almost never that I'm significantly younger. Overall, I like the low maintenance, and it has helped me become more confident because it was like an ‘I don't give a fuck anymore’ moment. In terms of attractiveness/youthfulness, it definitely has a negative impact, but it's far from the end of the world.
