>they aren't looking to have the biggest most massive quads possible,
You are though.
>they just squat a couple times their bodyweight and jump for ATHLETISM not for size
True. 2pl8 squat is enough. Quarter squats, cleans, and small quads = athletic as fuck.

>bodytypes of champions proves nothing fucking peabrain
>bodytype of random roided nigger who was never top 3 proves everything

True. Wouldn't say strong legs are useless but every pound of upper body muscle is 10x more useful, on a pound-for-pound basis. Somebody who has 10lbs on their legs is probably going to beat somebody 8lbs lighter (2 from upper body). BUT TWO EQUAL WEIGHT FIGHTERS,
>one with 2pl8 bench, 1pl8 pullup, and 4pl8 squat
>one with 2.5pl8 bench, 2pl8 pullup, 2pl8 squat
Upper body will almost always win. I just despise the fact that you have people on 4chan spamming "OH WHAT CHICKENLEGS" on guys that look like
>>76504216 WITH COMPLETELY FUNCTIONAL, ATHLETIC LEGS.
Having huge SS Rippetoe quads is not going to help you in running, even in sprints. It's going to hinder you in boxing, because your thunder thighs are going to be sapping all your energy in footwork for 12 rounds, and they aren't going to contribute much to power. Tyson was known for gassing out in later rounds, and Deontay Wilder has 2x his power, just with far FAR LESS skill. I've also heard that Gordon Ryan and other BJJ champions skip legs to make them more flexible and make it so that triangles are easier to land, although I'm not sure about that. Juicy large legs are useful for rugby-type clashes and sprint cycling, other than that, the functionality is VERY OVERRATED.
Brian Shaw squats less than a random vegan strongman. Highest jumpers in basketball and volleyball have toned, ripped legs, not the biggest most massive quads. Best fighters have toned legs. Boxers have shit legs that are actually pretty small, sometimes smaller than untrained.
Legs are for CARRYING and RUNNING, not squatting.
