I'm not saying you should drop your protein intake, I'm saying there doesn't seem to be much difference between 0.6g and 1g/lb.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1400008/

You will not lose your gains, but you maybe won't gain muscle as optimally.
Also I was a bit off in my last post, it was about ~0.73–0.77 g/lb for building muscle.

That's just one study but the results are pretty consistent across all studies.

1g/lb is fine. More than that likely does nothing. If you finding eating 1g/lb hard or too expensive, dropping to 0.7g is OK.

If you have existing or latent kidney conditions, maybe. Animal-based proteins seem to be less "kidney-friendly" than plant based ones. Hydration is very important. But 1g/lb should be ok. If you're getting like 2g/lb per day, then yeah that definitely could cause kidney problems down the line. It's a dice roll, that's why some people live to 100 drinking alcohol every day, but they're an anomaly.

Chicken thighs my friend. You can boil them and eat them plain and they're tasty just like that.
I just made a giant pot (~20 servings) of chicken soup for less than $25.
>16 chicken thighs, skin and bones included
This is the most important part. Everything else is up to your preference. I like to use a traditional mirepoix:
>1 pound carrots
>1 whole bunch of celery
>2 yellow onions
And then for extra fun:
>mushrooms
>whole pod of garlic
>potatos, whatever kind you like, enough to thicken the liquid.
>spices like Himalayan salt, Thyme, dill, mustard, Italian blend, parsely, whatever you feel like really

Boil chicken, make a very fatty broth. Remove chicken and cook veggies in broth. Remove bones and skin from chicken and put it back in. Boil bones and skin separately to make more schmaltzy broth, pour it in as you go.
I cook it all day so it cooks down to a very tasty vegetable bisque with tons of shredded chicken floating around and lots of that good collagen from the chicken bones.
I make this about every 4-6 weeks, keep it in my freezer and it's great served with mashed potatoes (which i also make in bulk and freeze) and a dollop of plain Greek yogurt.

Tldr don't be a lazy ass who thinks of protein as powders and shakes

Depends on the protein. Make a list of protein sources you like. Look up prices and macro profile. Calculate cost per gram of protein (and calories per gram of protein if you are concerned about that). Buy the cheapest shit that you are willing to eat that gets you to your targets. Picrel an example of relative protein costs in my area, although its a couple years out of date at this point.

>takes an hour
No it takes all day. That's why I make so much of it. Take a day you don't have to work and let stuff cook on the stove while you're home. You can turn it off if you leave and turn it back on when you get home. Then freeze it.
>i don't like meal prepping
That's how you save money, and time. No I'm not broke because I do things like cooking in bulk and freezing it instead of cooking every single day.
>how do you calculate macros for per serving
I've been doing this long enough (21+ years) that I really don't autistically count macros too often. I just try to make every meal centered around protein and that gets me enough for the day. With the soup, I'm eating a big scoop of chicken every time, and I'm really fully afterwards.
If you really wanted to, just do it like you would anything else: calculate the protein of the total pot (chicken, veggies, etc) then divide it among how many servings you get out of it.

Hey thanks. I just use pretty traditional French ideas (which is what most western cooking is based off).

Main ideas:
Dark meat with skin and bones. Lots of flavor, very good for you.
Mirepoix of celery, onion, carrot.

Here it straight from the fridge. It looks a lot more appetizing when it's heated up plated with mashed taters etc

Just drink milk and eat food dumbass. Imagine sucking down mystery powder probably from China in late stage capitalism. Go on Alibaba right now and look up how much cheaper it is to order pallets of "whey protein powder" from China than it is to get it from dairy farms in the US. Is China known for its cheese production and cows everywhere? Fuck no, god knows what that shit is. You think companies who are trying to cut costs actually care if the shit is authentic or not? Fuck no x2, you'd probably buy from the cheapest source too and are naive enough to believe it's real. Those companies are buying in bulk from China and putting that fake shit into supplements sold here, and they can still call it made in the USA because it's assembled here with all the other filler ingredients they add like flavoring. Nobody even checks or tests it anyway, the shit is not regulated by the FDA. They could sell you powderized cow feces from India and youd gobble up your choccy muscle powder with delight.

Even with it definitely all being fake, milk is 3x less expensive per the same amount of protein.
