the pork chops are getting close to expiration and they have fresh ones coming in. they've repriced the close dated ones, and moved in the fresh ones. you'll need to use them within a couple days or freeze them

Look like pork butt chops, it's just one of the cheapest pieces of meat and generally really fatty, so they're cheap, plus like the other anon said probably on sale due to being close to expiration. As long as you cook them soon or freeze them it's fine and they taste great so bully for you.

Pork is based, love it, but it's def one of those meats that you want to cook more thoroughly.

A lot of people don't like porkchops because they're terrible dry

Those are loin bone in chops. Why they are that cheap, who knows? I'm not familiar with Safeway, and that pic is also old as fuck (2022...hopefully), but that just might be their way of discounting short date meat. Pork just tends to be cheap. Pigs are pretty cheap to raise, and demand has gone down compared to decades ago. I like pork chops here and there. Steak has gotten so expensive and chicken gets tiring day in and day out. Macros aren't as good as chicken, but it's not terrible.
