Why do core workout exercises get meme'd upon in the lifting world? I know a ton of dudes that just lift to get buff. Core exercises helps you stay lean, have better posture and improves sex.

Most dudes just sign it off as gay.

Because most of them are useless. Core muscles are the same as any other, they grow with progressive overloading. Shit like picrel only does anything when nearly untrained. Otherwise its a waste of time. Also a lot of people want narrower waists for v-taper, which training obliques can fuck up a bit.

This is fucking bullshit, I can bench 2pl8 and nearly curl 1pl8 and this shit is hard.

They are mutually exclusive retard. Some people want to train core, and they need to progressive overload. Some other people don't want to train core for reasons (whether its a dumb reason or not is irrelevant). Pick your poison.

This might sound weird but have you actually tried it? It is far harder than it looks

If you never tried it yes. But it takes maybe 10 minutes to get good at and basically feel like nothing. If it doesn't take you 10 minutes to get used to the movement, then yes it means you are weak and should spend more time actually lifting weights.
This is coming from a gymnast btw. Weight lifting always helps with any core exercise to the point where it feels like you are just moving around. The only issues with weight lifters is that their balance and flexibility is terrible so it gives the illusion that its working your muscles.

What part of "untrained" do you not understand?
If I can bench 500 lbs and never train legs, does that mean I can go squat 500 lbs ass to grass? No.
>>76506757
Yes, I've tried it. It's piss easy. How many reps is it supposed to take to actually get fatiguing? If it's 30+ per set, it's a waste of time. There are better options.

Core exercises are so so so important for maintaining a healthy body. I won’t even touch on aesthetics, but keeping good posture and a healthy spine is critical. Heavy compounds isn’t enough. Ask me how I know.

What about that statement is cope?
Why would I pick an exercise that I can't overload and takes forever to reach failure because it's so fucking easy, when I can pick ones that I can overload so I approach failure in 10-20 reps per set like ab wheel, hanging leg raises, cable crunch, or a billion different kettle bell variations?
Ain't trying to spend all damn day in the gym.

Like always, /fit/ full of retards that just think lift heavy weight is good.
Nah, literally every competitive sport on this planet has you working your core out regularly. I guess literally billions of dollars of research is wrong and anon on some vietnamese basketweaving forum is in the right.

Keep your isometric planks. I'll do what works for me.

Its almost like you have never done sports. Do you honestly believe teams are out on the field doing jumping jacks and knee raises as their own workout session?
Anonymous No.76507046
You’re going to get a good core workout doing compound movements, squats, deadlift, strict standing OHP, or even sprinting. Isolating the core with crunches and regular planks solely to build those muscles is a time waster.

But,
focused core exercising is worth it when you do it to train your body to transfer power from one muscle group to another. Ab wheel roll outs can help you lock-out OHP or a jerk press better because they require immense core stiffness coordinated with your triceps and shoulders. Low weight paused Zombie front squats can improve your front and back squats because of ab and upper back engagement and ROM demand. Z-press with an empty barbell help your core give the stability in your shoulder girdle and ROM to help you actually press. Dragon flags are great for a rock climber who might need to lever their body while gripping an underhang. Cable wood choppers are great for an offensive lineman who will need to get the force from their feet to one arm in order to stiff arm an opponent. Holding planks for a really long time can help rowers have proper posture on the water. Or Swiss ball pot stirrers to stabilize a back injury.

They are literally doing core exercises in the pic. Why the fuck are you talking shit? Yes they also go to the gym. But they also do a fuck ton of warming up and core exercises.

Im trying to tell you the difference between warmups and what an actual workout is you dyel retard. They aren't doing this to get stronger or look better. They are doing this just to get the blood pumping before they start their practice you absolute dunce. This entire thread has been about doing these as a workout when everyone is trying to tell you it should be easy if you actually work out.
