Milk for weight gain?
new to /fit/ so hi!
my boyfriend has been drinking a LOT of milk in attempt to gain weight. multiple gallons per week. slightly concerned for his health. he's 135lbs and 5'11 and works out consistently around 2-5 times a week.

im not entirely sure how many calories he consumes daily, but id assume hefty amount is primarily from milk. will this work? will it negatively impact his health?

Powdered milk in milk mixed with whey protein.
Don't know how they do it but they turn fat into a solid.

I am also very new, been doing calisthenics and basic weight training for about a month and a half and have gone from 138lbs to 145lbs. I've been drinking a ton of plain ass chocolate milk as well as high calorie shakes w some milk in them, about a gallon every 5/6 days. Love that choccy milk, man.

He's going to have to drink a lot more if he's that active.

>Works out anywhere between 2-5 days per week
He should find set days to train and stick to that.
He probably doesn't need to be drinking multiple gallons of milk a week.

his goal is weight gain, i think he's overdoing it, but i couldn't stop him if i tried. just wondering if it'd even work, and mainly if it's unhealthy.
i'll talk him about the scheduled training thingy though.

i have suspiciously similar stats... i know for a fact you are not my partner... what gives

Drinking milk is not unhealthy we've been drinking it for 7,500 years and no one has died yet. There are merely a couple points of interest to yourself:

1) Drinking a ton of milk causes insane farts and sharts. As a partner you may not want that.

2) Milk has a ton of protein, but also a ton of calories obviously. This is totally fine if your bf is doing serious training and is doing it consistently, but if he's fucking around at the gym, or if he stops working out and continues drinking the milk, he's going to get pretty chubbs as a result.

If his CI > CO, yes he will gain weight.
>will it negatively impact his health?
Weight is gain is correlated with bad health outcomes due to fat gain. As long as he's doing small bulk/cuts to maintain a low bodyfat, he's probably fine.

Friendly reminder that only raw milk is real milk.

If you have access to real milk, then yes, it's an easy and extremely healthy way to gain weight.
It's the #1 thing I'd recommend to anyone who's underweight or sickly.

If he doesn't have access to raw milk, he could get some kefir grains and make that instead as another near-strict upgrade from commercial pasteurized milk. Tasted better too.

I drink 3-4 gallons of milk a week and it gives me insane acne, especially on my back and shoulders. Overall, it's a small price to pay.

Milk is fine to drink in large amounts long term if you're white. I started drinking a half gallon a day and at first I'd have to cycle off because my shit would turn yellow indicating i wasn't digesting it all. In a couple months I got used to it and now it's a staple. Easy to get my protein and maintain weight.

Working out that much while trying to gain is retarded. He needs to do low volume 2-3- days a week max. I only do one set and it's been a game changer for gains. Have always struggled to put on weight too.

I'm 6'1" 208 and only doing about a gallon a week; he needs to find better foods.

Any amount of milk is fine as long as he eats less calories than he burns and eats a complete and varied diet.

Any other suggestion is either false or so far to the fringe that it is unusable for the common lifter.

If you notice that he gets a lot, and i do mean a LOT, more acne that could be linked with some form of increased inflamation, even then it's not something to be worried about. He may just drink the milk cause he likes it.

Also make sure to compliment his gains. Don't lie, if you don't notice anything different don't say anything but when you do, tell him. You are probably 60% of why he is even doing this and he does, in fact, care about your opinion,

how is the inflammation linked to the increase in acne? I'm the guy drinking all the milk and I just assumed it was because it's high in fat and contains a small amount of pus but now I'm concerned.

Milk contains whey and casein

Whey increases insulin levels
Casein increases IGF-1

Bofa these can cause inflammation. Of course this varies from person to person.
If you get pus filled acne from milk either get better genes or try a diet that will lower your blood glucose level.

Wrong. Avoid milk as it contains load of oestrogens

I don't blast but I heard if your test is high when you do you need to take an aromatase inhibitor which is estrogen based so you DONT grow tits. So I reckon higher test dudes drinking milk to bulk isn't a bad thing since it may actually balance some people who are known to enjoy dairy and were vikings, celts ect

Just do some ischemic exercise and you'll temporarily simulate being a high TNF mutant, bro: https://openscholar.uga.edu/record/13952?v=pdf
