Barbell rows
>works whole back
>forces you to strengthen lower back
>fixes grip issues (you forearms WILL grow doing these)
>look like a fucking boss when your doing them
Yep. I think barbell rows are my new favourite exercise.

Have u tried pendlay rows? I find them fun and cool cause you get to slam the weight and make big sounds.

dumbbell rows are superior
(don't be a fag and put your knee on the bench you'll just hurt yourself)
Anonymous No.76510745 >>76510752
I like that they’re one if the simplest explosive lifts you can do big. I also like that it’s basically the opposite of a bench press, so I take Rippetoe’s advice to row and press the same weight to keep proportional.

However, after doing them a long time, I think they gee pretty boring compared to say squat or overhead press.

I used to love BB rows. Snapped my shit and have to avoid them but I miss them dearly. Chest supported T bar just isn’t the same and hurts my ribs.

I noticed that barely anyone does db rows anymore
They used to be very popular years ago

Right??? And with OHP you can catch people mirin out the corner of your eye. Try to look around during a barbell row and you’ll fuck up your back.

>The underside of your scapula on the one side got strained again
FUCKIN hate that shit
But yeah rows are one of my favorites too then I'll do reverse pec dec, seated horizontal close grip and wide grip rows, chin and pull up and lat pull downs.
That's why I love cables, just move the height around with a bar attachment and you can hit inner, outer, upper middle and lower back off one machine.

Yes, but the question is, supinated or pronated grip?

Yeah, that or weighted pull-ups, you don't need to do anything more for your back.

The best back exercise.

Pull-ups are an inferior workout to barbell row in every way, BB rows do not only your lats but your rhomboid, lower back, rear delt, forearm and traps too if you do it higher stance meanwhile pull ups only do upper back and bicep, chin-ups has better motion than pull-ups and go deeper in this regards, and bonus target to rear delt. Clearly superior.

You can also do them totally unsupported
>plant feet at 90 degrees, more than shoulder-width apart
>squat down, ass far back, back as flat and horizontal as you can
>rest elbow of non-working arm on quad of non-working leg
>lift with single arm, then switch
helps to have the dumbbell parallel and close to the working side foot. It feels like the most pure barbell row movement (neither supported nor limited by any other body part), although it is unilateral which is a bummer, but if no other row feels right or your gym lacks the right equipment it's been great for me. imagine that pic except his right hand is on his right knee, knees more bent and back much more horizontal, what he's doing looks like 60% shrug 40% row.

I love them.they build such a thick and strong back.

Doing them 2 handed, 1 handed, Meadow's style, Kroc style, and seal have been my assortment of favorites.
