can't sing anymore
Does anyone on here sing?
>stopped chain-smoking
>started running daily
>started lifting a lot
>started hiking a LOT
Now I feel like my diaphragm is constantly exhausted and dried out from hyperventilating and I can't push nearly as hard when I sing. It's been like 3 weeks, I think is MAY be getting a little better... maybe?

if you're neck grew then that can be the culprit, I have a bulky neck so it can be difficult to relax the muscles to sing freely. Look up some massages and stretches to do and make sure to workout out your vocal muscles, not just your vanity muscles.

I was bass 2 in the highest level of choir back in highschool. You probably fucked yourself up for a good while with the chain smoking, so give it a little more time. Practice deep breathing by laying on your back on the ground, it will force you to breathe through your diaphragm.

I should’ve been more clear, I’ve been singing my whole life while smoking and the point of this thread is that now I’m worse than I was a few weeks ago when I was smoking and not exercising, particularly in regards to my now perpetually fatigued diaphragm. Basically whenever I start singing now, it feels like how it used to feel after I’d been singing hard for an hour or more. Voice still sounds the same, maybe a little better desu, but I just can’t push very hard or for very long now, but I’ll try the exercise, sounds similar to some I know

I'm singing in an amateur choir and the only time this happened was when I was riding my bike for two hours right before a performance. Otherwise I don't notice any downsides.

can you sing something on vocaroo
also maybe try cutting down to one activity and alternate to see what might be causing this. maybe it's volume, maybe it's some specific exercise you are doing; it's hard to tell from just what you told us
maybe try asking on the music board too?

It's like that chapter in Kumo where she unlocked that super powerful skill and then some bitch reset her to Lv1 but with indestructible string. Continue your training and you'll be able to break your previous level cap. Like a Digimon or Chao that needs die or revert first before utilizing better stats it can work up to.

I have had a bunch of musical experience. I can't stop diaphragmatic breathing. Tips to use my chest regularly when I am not singing/playing a music instrument.

it's already over, sorry. Whatever damage is done is permanent. Don't smoke kids.
