/fat/ - Fat Loss General
>Who is /fat/ for?
For dieting ducks working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

wow, today for the first time i had an actual full on bulimic impulse.

i binged on a bag of salt and vinegar chips, a full 1000 calories and probably a weeks worth of salt in 20 minutes

immediately i began to feel a little bit off, my stomach isnt liking it, it feels like my blood pressure is up, im sweating a little, i can feel the mucous membrane in my mouth shrivelling and dying from the salt i just consumed and i know its only going to continue to get worse

the second it sunk in what i had just done and what i am feeling, the thought to throw up intentionally to reverse what i have done so i dont have to go through what i know im now going to go through struck me like lightning

in fact, i think i would have gotten up and thrown up as soon as the idea came to me, if it wasnt for the fact that i have problems with my oesophagus/throat already from years of drinking and heart burn, and i cant afford to go around throwing up stomach acid willy nilly making the situation worse than it already is

god, those chips were profoundly unsatisfying too.

And there goes my plan. Looks like im sticking to meal prep guides in my own language which severly limits my options. For fucks sake. I followed the damn recipe and the fucking guy even had the recipe in grams and such even though it was a american recipe...
Man. Im just fucking sick of eating shit plain. What i mean is that i eat shit like ground beef and spaghetti and that will basically be my meal. Sure i season the ground beef but fuck it gets tiring when you eat it for the 30th time. Sure i rotate my meals but there arent that many options when all i eat are meat+carb. I just dont know how to cook so i thought a meal prep would help instead of cooking up slop every damn day. Nope. Plans ruined life ruined.

Yes, that's a bad idea. It's extremely restrictive, it's extremely disordered, and you won't be counting your calorie intake, which I know you think doesn't matter because it's low carb and the food is satiating, but you got fat because you didn't listen to your hunger cues, so it's better to just plan out your meals and count your calories. Yes, you don't need to lose any more weight, you need to burn fat and earn muscle mass. Eat maintenance calories, or even a mild surplus, try to stay around same weight, but going up a lb or so every week is fine, recomp or clean bulk while lifting hard. Look up a basic hypertrophy routine and follow it.

A big mistake a lot of guys make is they just keep cutting but they still look like shit, you're already at a good weight, just focus on building out muscle without gaining a lot of fat.

The point is that you were drinking 900 calories of soda a day, which is abnormal and is not listening to your hunger cues. And your solution was to jump to another abnormal eating habit, which would highly restrict your foods to just two, And that that was not a good idea.

so, let me get this straight. there were two people, both up bright and early, at the crack of dawn, and these two people decided to start a new thread, at exactly the same time- not the same hour, not the same minute, but THE SAME SECOND. because making a new /fat/ thread first thing in the morning on a monday at the exact same time at 6am is something that two people who really actually do.

perhaps- and this is a stretch- perhaps there is just one idiot making threads and trying to manipulate everyone and maintain control and he thinks that pretending to be two people fighting over thread control is the way forward (fake/controlled opposition). perhaps he wanted to split the threads. or maybe there really are two people, but they aren't normal people, because they are awake at 6am on a monday morning fighting over control of this fucking thread instead of going to work or sleeping like a normal person.

Turns out that dietary intervention was the right call. I just need to keep losing weight and not eating salty foods and I think my blood pressure will be fine.

I had been eating a shitload of rotisserie chicken and I think thats what drove me up into the 150s. The shit has a ton of salt in it and I never even thought about it. Sucks that I will probably have to watch my salt forever but oh well. Better than stage 2 hypertension and stroking out.

I say this because you said you freaked out. You will hit 152 as a reading again, it is normal to have your BP spike in terrible ways especially when you aren't used to having it measured. Don't freak out next time when it does, BP has to be measured using averages.

The salt thing can go away when you get nearer to a healthy goal. I am down an average of 13 for my systolic and 15 for my pulse. I was on blood meds at 139 and now off the meds at 126. I don't worry about salt anymore and concentrate on dieting. Keep with the low salt for now, it sucks worrying you are going to die every day.

Good work on the lower reading, it is a very good sign and you are on the right track. Keep going.

Just as an experiment, and to test myself if I even could keep it up, I tried to go on a diet.
The diet was simple: 1 meal a day. Doesn't matter what or how much, I could only eat once. No snacks, not even liquids other than water.
I lasted for a month and a couple days. Went from 76.~ to 70 kg

My takeaway is that CICO absolutely is true and the faggots who think otherwise have no brain at all.
ONLY losing weight won't improve your physique, BUT, if the only thing you care about is losing weight, limiting hard your food intake is absolutely the way to go. Working out will mask the progress and more than likely demotivate most weakminded people, so the second best bet is tackling weight loss and body training separately.

yes, coordination between two people could be the answer but you don't know how easy it is to just samefag. it's always been annoying when people do that. the 'fasting is great' and 'fasting doesn't work' argument (which is tiresome) is probably intended to bump the thread. it could be friends identifying one another and that would be very wholesome but i tend to believe that it's malevolent instead.

Fatty Contest
LeanAndStrong
94.7kg

After going from 120kg to 90kg as FatDumpster, here I am back again.
Here's how I fucked up:
>eating entire bars of chocolate
>eating candy in general, sour worms, haribo bears
>ordering pizza pretty much every week
>making a habit of ordering 4 mcdonalds burgers with large fries and ice cream

I did this shit a lot, but also somedays I'd just fast the entire day and eat 1500 cal of chicken breast in the evening.

My weight kept going up but fluctuating down sometimes, so as a cope I told myself it was fine, I needed a diet break anyway, but here I am. 3 months later I'm 5 kilos heavier.

This month I started running again, thank God, but I know it's not enough. I have to fix my diet. I have to stop eating garbage.

So God help me, after 3 months of fucking up really hard, I'll take back control again. I'm so close, I'm well below 100kg, I can't fucking give up now.

Cutting at a 500 calorie deficit while being very active is so easy, I managed to get my calorie goal to what would otherwise be a slight surplus because I'm lifting two hours 4 days a week, walking at least 10k steps daily and doing cardio three times a week.
It's very sustainable but slow as fuck though, 2-3kgs a month

Learn how to cook a pizza. You can work an occasional pizza into your macros, especially if you limit your portion sizes. I was surprised that I could get away with 500 cal pizza and that there was roughly 15g protein (without toppings)

Won't know for sure until the end of the month honestly. But, I'd say maybe 6?

It has diminishing returns pretty quick and your body goes into low power mode after 4-5 days and then the loss slows down quite a bit. So, it's not really worth doing. Intermittent is a much better way of doing things. Skip a day a week, and it's way more effective.

But, I guess I'm just trying to prove a point to myself about willpower.
