/fat/ - Fat Loss General
>Who is /fat/ for?
For dieting ducks working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

I post nuns and you cry, I don't post nuns and others cry and/or call me the zoomie. I can't win. I just want a new thread when the previous one hits bump limit, and I'm not waiting for the other nunfag as he seemingly disappeared. I really don't care what is in the OP and I don't know why you guys treat it like a competition. I even tried to make some original OPs by combining the progress pictures people were posting with some nuns/ducks to try to make everyone happy. That didn't work either and wasn't really sustainable as people don't post progress pictures often enough to keep the OP supplied with them.

The nuns are at least easy and give the threads variety since I can just grab one of the latest ones and know its not a recent repeat and there are like 1000+ pictures in the back catalogue I can pull from, meanwhile I've only got like 10 fat wojacks total, unless you want to draw up some new ones it'd make the threads very samey after like a week. I'm content to know no matter what I post as the OP someone will complain.

How much do you spend on food per week?

There was a comment a few threads back about how dieting has been great for the wallet, so I decided to check. In the past month ive spent $300 on grocery and $25 on reataurant/takeout. Its hard to estimate how much im really spending per week bc $200 of that were bulk costco purchases that will last me awhile.

At my worst I was spending 500/mo on booze alone and probably at least 600 on takeout. Its painful to look back and think of all the money I wasted

$150~$200/w
Really depends on chicken breast prices, those make up the bulk of my spending. If there is sale (usually Buy 1, Get 1) I stock up and buy several weeks worth at once and freeze it, saving a ton on food in the long run, but most of the time I feel like I'm overspending since the only grocery store in my area kinda has a monopoly. If I can't get it on amazon I have to pay their exorbitant prices or drive 20 miles to the nearest walmart.

Also walmart has like the worst produce and meat, their shit is always old and slimey for some reason and doesn't last more than a day or two. Walmart is disgusting.

I was still wondering about this so I asked AI to settle it and it said somewhere in the .6g~.8g of protein range per lb of LBM is optimal. I'm going to keep eating 1g per lb of LBM anyway though, it says eating more doesn't hurt and its just the benefits to eating more protein start to plateau before 1g/lb, so its not like I'm sabotaging myself by eating 150g/d of protein instead of the "optimal" 120g/d.

For protons I mostly eat magerquark/low fat cottage cheese, as well as pasta dishes incorporating ground meats or tofu to not go insane
Two 500g tubs of magerquark cost 2.78โ‚ฌ and contain 121g of protein at 700 kcal, in the past I lost ~15 kg eating just that every day.

Technically correct but calling it trash ignores its purpose
Collagen provides unique amino acids (glycine, proline) that are essential building blocks for tendons, ligaments, skin, and joints
You can easily "complete" it by eating other protein sources throughout the day anyways
It's a targeted supplement for connective tissue, not a replacement for meat, whey or other complete proteins

It'll surely make your nails and hair look healthier, and it really helps your joints at least. There is really strong evidence of it improving skin, specifically making the collagen network more dense and youthful looking, so itll help with stretch marks, haven't seen anything about it improving elasticity though, which is what people want around here due to the ever present fear of loose skin.

Where exactly is the research saying what form of collagen is best? What method of use is best? What dose is best and how long until you actually see results? And what kind of results you can actually expect? I guess it's been 6 months since I looked into it, but the last I saw as they can only tell you through actual scientific research that it would probably be good for you. But there's really not much research and just a bunch of claims from COMPANIES and shills to sell more collagen supplements. Like the bovine milk duct pills to make boobies grow lmao
>>76524697
It's pricey because women are into it right now. Go to the women's section of skincare or supplements and you'll see everything saying that it has collagen in it or can somehow help you boost your natural collagen production. You'll find collagen pills, liquid collagen supplements, collagen serums for your face, collagen lotion for your body. But they don't actually explain why their product works and other peoples don't, or how they know for sure that their product works or why their method of use (liquid drops, capsule pills, concentrated serums) actually work the best and what kind of actual real results you can expect. Women love snake oil, and this just seems like another snake oil pill. If you use it, then You will totally feels so much better and everything will be perfect in your body, like every other female health scam.

I donโ€™t think so. Fat improves no face, and it doesnโ€™t take a super high body fat percentage for it to start appearing on your face. I think the correct path is 1. Build enough muscle/strength for otter mode. 2. Cut down to otter mode. 3. Maintain/lean bulk indefinitely.

You keep the face, you keep the abs, you have a chest, and everything slowly improves from there.

So just because it's a therapeutic technique you think it's TikTok, made up bullshit. If you want to be miserable, just say you want to be miserable. If you want to get better and if you want it to stop, then you should be willing to try anything. Using grounding techniques that rely on senses is something that's been used for a pretty long time and does reliably work for most people. It doesn't work for everyone sure, but most people have luck having something comforting to them that they can keep with them discreetly and use anytime to comfort and soothe themselves and remind them where they are and that they are safe and not reliving the traumatic experience. It's not pulling out a security blankey, or telling everyone that you're triggered. It's discreetly putting a peppermint in your mouth because a sensation reminds you of where you are, and you find it comforting. It's having a tiny piece of cloth that you can hide up your sleeve that you sprayed with some kind of scent that makes you feel comforted or reminds you of something happy. It can be anything as long as it's not harmful like huffing gasoline. You can keep in a wireless earbud playing sounds that you like that you find comforting and remind you where you are and that you're safe. It can just be a texture that you like that you keep in your pocket like velcro or a silk cloth or a swatch of microfiber towel. It's not supposed to be some big piece of fabric that you pull out and snuggle, just rub your fingers against. Anything more is just for home. It's not meant to fix everything. It's just meant to calm you down in the moment. You've still gotta actually process it or you can just be miserable because the bros say that acknowledging any feelings that you have is gay or a pseudo nonsense. It worked for me. At night I play audio of a voice I find comforting reading a very long book. I used to keep a small cloth with me that smelled like eucalyptus.

I've been stuck at 160lbs for 2 weeks (I'm 5'9/175cm, male, 20yo, I eat 1200-1500kcals on average for reference). I've lost 15lbs since May, so I don't understand why I'm stalled all of the sudden.
I'm hoping to get down to somewhere in the 130-140lbs range. I'd like a (mostly) flat tummy, but if I start losing my curvature I'll probably call it quits early.

Read the monograph.
Stuff like constipation, diarrhea, and nausea are the usual complaints.
The main drawback is that while they'll make you lose weight faster, you will ultimately have to contend with proper dieting to keep the weight loss they give you, unless you wanna keep paying for and taking it forever. Proper fatasses struggle with this.
