Is a 3 plate squat for reps actually realistic? Ive been going to gyms for 20 years and ive only ever seen 2 people squat 3 plates for 5-10 reps
Anonymous No.76525882 >>76529221
Yes. I got 3.5 plates for 5x10 the week before I hit 215kg.

You have to eat, train hard, train using a program and you can do it. Training without a good program or by feel is never going to get you there.

When you put your max into a spreadsheet and look ahead to week 12, the numbers there should intimidate you.

Try programa like gnuckols/strength theory.

Paused squats did wonders for me. They are hard.

Squatting heavy is hard fucking work.

Oh and the Sheiko programs. They are very tough and very good. Got me to a 175kg squat from about a 145/150kg squat. Gave me elbow tendonitis also though

Yes, maybe not you, however, you sound old, no offense.

Yes I can do it.

I dicked around with 1.5pl8 squat for years. I didn't hit 3pl8 squat until I surrendered my body unto Death. You have to say fuck it. Better to die an intermediate lifter than live forever a novice

how fast did you progress per week after hitting 2 plates for 5? For me it's like +5lb per month maybe

I can squat 140kg for 2 at 72kg bodyweight, if I was 80kg+ I'd probably be able to do 6-8.

I've been working out since December. I hit 3 plates for 4 reps a few weeks ago. My back can't handle it, I don't train it much, but now I kinda have to. Why back? I have long legs, so I naturally have to lean forward a bit more to compensate for that. If my back was stronger, I could do 6 reps, I reckon.

You will eventually get there, for me I have this weird issue with squats where all other lifts will go up and squats will stall but once I get push through that wall I will be able to squat more for a bit before getting stuck again.
My last 1RM (successful) attempt was 152.5kg @ 75kg, I lost 3kg since to get cut a bit for the summer, I'm planning to bounce back to 78kg~ to try and hit 170kg the next winter.

i stopped squatting since i started cutting aswell, it just wasn't worth it the fatigue was real, what's your height btw? mirin the leg gains, also i'm focusing more on upper right now benching 2pl8 x 5 but i wanna go to 8 reps for a few reps, i started eating at maintenance so strength is coming back

I did 531 BBB at the time and went from around 110kg max to 125kg max over... 5 or 6 months maybe? I actually tried 140kg after the 125kg because my ego wanted to and to this day felt the heaviest weight I ever lifted (also I failed the lift as my max was 125kg lol)

Went from 140kg to 175kg after running two back to back Sheiko programs which were HARD AS FUCK and also buying a belt which I feel gave me 10kg

I definitely wasn't eating enough though.

Absolutely possible, it took me about 3 years of lifting consistently from never lifting to be able to do 5x10 at 3 plate. I was at 190 lbs at the time.
Anonymous No.76529665
Yeah its very realistic for most males. People don't really care about squatting that much so you don't see it often.
Anonymous No.76529878
Achievable, its actually not as hard as it sounds if you train consistently.

I was terrified of putting 3 plates on my back because I felt like I was crunching my spine with way less weight. Then I got a belt and realized that core stabilization (blowing your core up like a balloon against the belt) is everything. Then I was easily making 10 lb jumps every other training session. your legs are very adaptable
