>there's gotta be so much core, back, calf and ankle strength to keep yourself upright
. ive noticed its particulary common with asian dancers though
its called aplomb and it describes when she is on her center of gravity. the backbend happens only in the thorax, but the line extends through her head. the shoulder are locked down into the back pocket, engaging the lats, so she is holding her upper body with her back, while closing in the ribs, activating the tva muscle, bracing her core. the playing leg is rotated outward keeping her pelivs stable, also her ankle. as in her balancing foot, it is the inter-toe muscles that wrap underneath to keep the foot in its shape, while the achilles is relaxed, meaning the calves are supportive, but not primary muscle in most steps.

the bend leg is her sail, the outward rotation is not stationary, but a constant movement, driving the turn (NOT SPIN)
