Why isn't canned fish shilled harder?
>Omega 3s out the ass
>high protein density
>Easy to store and prepare
>Comes in a lot of fun varieties if you want something extra to your meal
>Mercury isn't a problem if you stick to sardines / salmon / Atlantic mackerel and the like
Seems like a slept on super food especially when people are out there trying to buy fish oil and making sure it's not rotten crap. You could just actually eat the fish and get great contribution to your other nutrient needs on top of the omega 3s.

Because health schizos love pretending to be prehistoric men eating big chunks of meat (see sv3rige, ketolards and so on), and eating something from a can goes against that.

Take it from somebody who works at a food pantry (me). Go to a food pantry and get basically unlimited sardines for free.
And yes, I mean sardines. We have like 10 billion cans of sardines. I'm not talking about canned tuna in oil or whatever.

If you want to be a fish monger, go for it!
I had a friend who did a season in a canery up in Alaska. Another who did a season on a fishing boat. They both hated the experience. But maybe you'll enjoy it. An actual fish monger job would probably be more comfy and safe.

Let us know if you do it. You could be the fishmonger of /fit/. If you hooked us up with fresh catches, you'd probably get included in the new year's webcomic!

>in oil
No thank you. No idea why but most oils give me terrible nausea 6-8 hours after consuming them. Can eat straight up lard no problem but make it plant oil (and fish, if there's a lot of it) and I'm tucking a pillow under my side and controlling my breathing for an hour so as not to puke. It's a shame because deens and sprats are nice. Maybe I'll get my ass to a gastroenterologist one of these days.

I work for a government as tech support for a site only government employees can use.

No one is using the site unless told to, I get 5 tickets a year, all password reset, I have not talked to my manager in 3 years.
I get a 10% raise every year + inflation adjustment.
But, I have to be in the office 6 days a week 9-5, I can't do anything fun as everything is monitored 24/7.
Can't bring in non-approved equipment, nothing is ever approved, not even books...

It's like area 51, with non of the cool shit.

I've enjoyed a few cans of smoked mussles lately. Since I live on the beach anyway I've decided I'm going to start harvesting and pickling my own fresh ones. Mussles are pound for pound every bit as good as chicken breast and they are totally free, without even needing some gay permit. The only trick is to check for closures because during algea blooms they can give you some kind of paralysis evidently.

The same shit seed oil is made of? That's all PUFAs are is omega 3 and 6. They say they're oxidized when heated up, you think cooking a fish doesn't heat up and destroy the omegas? Might as well suck down seed oil.

Mackerel and sardines are great protein and are very cheap but they don't taste as good as other fish. The canned variety is great because it keeps for a long time but the high sodium content is the obvious downside. I recently bought no-sodium added tuna though which im looking forward to, 90mg in a can which isn't too bad I guess. I had the same idea in the past and you'll probably get bored of the taste long before you save a sizable amount of money. Just have them ocassionally as a snack or lunch or when you go camping. That's where they're best.
