For most people, protein intake isn't the limiting factor for muscle growth, assuming you eat real protein from meat, eggs or dairy.

Mentzer already said it decades ago that even if you wanted to gain 10lbs a year of lean mass, the protein you'd need to do so is less than 5 extra grams per day over whatever your daily need is.
