Why do these types of videos do so well? Why do so many normies believe that construction workers and farmers are stronger than people who's job is to literally lift heavy shit?

Blue collar romanization, coping from amerilards about "functional" strength because they don't want to gym

Are you really too stupid to figure this out on your own?

Depends on the activity youre using as the benchmark. Bodybuilders know proper form and have trained to do specific exercises. Functional strength is something different. Have a body builder carry shingles up a ladder all day in the blazing heat- i bet he taps out long before the 130lb dude who’s been doing it his whole life. Yeah the body builder can do more weight at a time, and probably more reps in a controlled environment, but he aint built for doing it all day, every day.

Im a mechanic, ive seen plenty of yoked up big dudes that dont know how to apply their strength get shown up by guys half their size when it comes to moving or lifting stuff that isnt a dumbbell.

You're too high in your own farts.
Bodybuilders' job isn't to lift heavy, it's to look big. For this people typically don't lift heavy, but lift moderate weights, they just do a lot of volume overall.
Now olympic weightlifters' job is to lift as much as possible, even 72kg tiny oly lifters will absolutely demolish any pro bodybuilder.

Why does this happen tho? You didn't answer my question, you just repackaged it in fancier words.
Why the fuck would someone romanticize being a farmer? id rather be a soi urbanite than a poor, fat farmer motherfucker living on the country. you might as well be third world at that point imo

People romanticize/fantasize about lots of shit. People go on vacation somewhere and think it's great and then move there, and then think it sucks. KHV's fantasize about having a girlfriend, but having one sucks 9 out of 10 times. Lots of young men fantasize about going to war, even though that sucks hard. Something like Ukraine is an absolute living nightmare, and I was in Iraq, and I never really experienced any fear, but it was just miserable, hot, and boring.

Yeah but all you would need is a week for a big dude to learn how that shit works, get his nervous system familiar with the movements, then its over for the little guy. Biggest example of this is larry wheels learning how to do a planche push up, all this shit about you have to be skinny, short and very light and spend years perfecting the move... and the giant muscled bodybuilder was able to do it in a month just because he is so fucking strong.

Thing is i do lift too, because i care how i look- i work with a lot of the stereotypical fat, greasy slobs that fill the mechanic world and i dont want to be them. - and yes you can learn technique- but theres something to be said about doing the same thing all day every day, no matter what the manual task is. You may not be the strongest or fittest overall, but at that one activity, you can probably out perform a body builder.

Not even boomers, younger rural and/or conservatives push that shit all the time too. Most blue-collar jobs don't even make you that strong. Being a plumber or electrician isn't high intensity work. There's some physical aspect to it, but you'll just be slightly stronger than a desk jockey. And farms are so mechanically assisted now that even that isn't much physical labor anymore either. The illegals are mostly just doing things that cause RPI, and that's mostly just because they are moving as fast as possible because they are often getting paid by the container. There's definitely still some hard labor jobs out there, but those are a small fraction of blue-collar work. Most of the MAGA types pushing it have never worked as a construction laborer, ranch hand, oil rig worker, or anything like that.

I've lifted for years, gotten impressive numbers, and then started construction and gotten my ass handed to me in terms of functional strength by guys who I can provably out lift in the gym. It's simply a difference in training, lifting real awkward ass objects is closer to strongman/Olympic lifting than it is bodybuilding. If they did a construction worker vs strongman the strongman would clean house

Same. I'm work with floors and tiles, I lift pretty heavy in the gym, but the only unironically useful thing from the gym that's applicable in my day to day work is knowing how to brace my core and back not to hurt it when I'm moving particularly heavy shit like granite tiles and blocks. Most of my coworkers are like 2/3 my weight at best, skinny guys, they typically rely on velcro corsets/belts not fuck themselves up to bad while lifting shit, but when I was starting out they'd regularly outlift me because they knew how to handle odd shaped bs.

I hate bodybuilding but a lot of people have an inferiority complex towards it because it's one of those areas where casuals dont shy away from discussing genetics and how much they matter and determinism
Even MMA has whitepill copium knights who cant accept the fact that they will never surpass the 14yo kid who's been training since he was a spermatozoid, everyone in bodybuilding knows and is completely fine with admitting that you're NGMI if you're not built a certain way

Everyone involved in BB knows for a fact genetics matter, if you go to any other board on here everyone would agree. This place is the corner back seats of the class where the shunned autists sit so whatever most people agree on they're going to deny it. On /sp/ you'll see mma and boxing fans admitting that genetics and upbringing matters just because the consensus in gyms and in martial arts culture is that it doesn't and muh hard work beats muh talent or whatever

Retarded midwit take.

Grip, lower back, and core strength for asymmetric objects are obvious signs of functional strength. If you have the strongest calves and strongest neck in the world, that is not going to be functional for lifting or carrying any real world object. Strong neck would be functional for grappling and fighting, however. Strong calves would be good for uphill carries or putting heavy things on a tall shelf, but otherwise fairly useless. STRONGMAN have functional strength, they don't just lift barbells, they can lift objects of any shape and size. This translates into moving furniture, fridges, tiles, etc. Grip strength and endurance translates to virtually every manual labor job. 5pl8 squat isn't going to help you when most of the things you'll carry are >200lbs, biceps are unironically MORE FUNCTIONAL because they'll help you hug onto large objects.

Most of the anti-lifting coping seems to come from europestan soccer sissies who worship tiny arabs and south american dudes doing cardio for 90 minutes.
Meanwhile Americans have an inherit respect for big guys lifting heavy since football is 100x less about cardio shit and more about strength and size. That's why NFL players regularly do bench press/squats/power cleans while soccer players don't.

It farms engagement because people have an inherent insecurity and look down on bodybuilding as an ego stroking activity (which I wouldn’t argue with). There’s an obvious angle at attempting to display superiority to this specific hobby. You don’t see them challenge Sumo wrestlers, bowlers, golfers, archers, or any sport. Even within the realm of the gym, strengthfags and powershitters proclaim bodybuilders as weak when that’s not even the main purpose of their hobby. Even so, a bodybuilder has enough mass and strength and will be able to lift more than the vast majority of human beings. Overall, it’s unwarranted seethe stemming from insecurity. Challenging a complete novice and branding them as pathetic for not having competence in something they don’t do at all is pathetic.

Sidenote, bodybuilding is the only activity where steroids are an open secret. Try to convince any sportsfan that the top athletes are on some drug and you’ll be met with idiocy. They think it’s noble of a pursuit for people not to cheat. Also, some foreign faggot shoehorning Americans completely unprompted into everything will never not be ridiculous, by the way.>>76533468

>Why do these types of videos do so well?

Because it's the sort of stuff we all asked ourselves when were were young boys and in our teens. That's who this stuff is made for primarily. You can't tell me that growing up you didn't randomly think stuff like "what would happen if an elite top-level athlete took a military fitness test?" or "how would a person from X athletic discipline perform in Y?".

The difference is that when you and I were growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s, these were random thoughts in your head that lived and died there. Now though there's a financial incentive via Youtube for people to make these silly fantasies a reality, even if it's just a toy experiment for a video.

Now when some 8 year old has that thought, they type it into youtube and click the video and the creator gets money. Money which they can then use to fund the next video where they can approach another athlete or discipline or military insitution or group of blue collar workers and say "hey I'll pay you $50,000 to let me take this test / film for a day with you" etc and the other person gets paid + gets exposure on Youtube.
