I am similarly aged and weighed 282 in February. I stopped drinking beer and lost about 5 lbs but that stalled out quickly. I started lifting again and gained some muscle while burning some fat and eventually that hit a plateau so I started doing cardio and didnt lose any weight for a couple months so I finally bit the bullet and started a 1000 calories deficit 2 months ago and now Im down to 259. I use myfitnesspal to track my caloric deficit and use the sedentary setting. I lift almost every day and do cardio after my lifts. This combo of lifting, cardio and strict adherence to a caloric deficit is the only thing that has allowed me to lose weight. The first couple days were hard to say goodbye to snacking but then it got pretty easy and intuitive. Myfitnesspal is pretty decent if you eat the same foods every week because you can just tap to add them to your meals for the day. There's probably a million ways to do this but it boils down to eat less, move more.

Just lift throughout the day, get to a surplus then do a few sets before bed so your metabolism doesnt tank.

That's a big ask, but not impossible. But it's going to be only 1000kcal/day and daily hour long walks with zero fuck ups.
