My squat is lagging behind my other lifts

What if I just did a couple sets at 50% of my top set weight a few times a week?

If your technique is shit sure. But otherwise that won't do much.

Run a hypertrophy phase for legs followed by a peak phase.

5-8 reps close to fail/fail. 3 set, 2-3 times a week.

Then non-squat warmup. Followed by squat Singles. 70%, 80%, 90%, 100% of max. 4-5 times a week.

5 heavy reps per week is to much for you? Mmkey. Look up Bulgarian weightlifting for more. It's just a basic peak cycle.

Personally, whenever I get stuck on some weight while squatting for a long time it's usually at least 1 of 2 things happening:
>I can't breathe
>My back gives out
It's never legs for me.
For breathing just do cardio and get a pre-workout with nitric oxide, don't need anything fancy, just bulk l-citruline from chinks or something, if money is a serious issue.
For your back, well, you need to train you back, not your lats, but erectors, rhomboids, lower traps. For me rhomboids and lower traps are usually the problem because I literally feel like my upper back is collapsing.
You might want to stop stims like caffeine, btw, because you might be going through caffeine crash by the time you're getting to heavy squats. So try non-stim preworkouts with nitric oxide instead. Or again buy bulk from chinks, up to you.

I've been having.trouble.with increasing weight on squats too. I try to stay as upright as possible but sometimes i move slightly forward coming up. think i should abandon this technique entirely because my bench is higher atm than my squat...

I already have l citruline but never took it before leg day because i thought it was for pumps only, also you make sense because i'm asthmatic aswell and i gas out easily although it's been a week that i added 30m cardio. I don't take caffeine i quit a year ago.

Also i need to train my lower back you are right i'm focusing a lot on upper

It is a vasodilator, yes, but it also helps you to recover your breath a lot faster and it improves oxygen uptake, but you'll have to be on it for at least a week to reap the most benefits and the minimal viable dose is 6g/day, preferably 10. Keep taking it on your rest days as well, that's why I recommend buying raws from chinks, commercial cit is too damn expensive with shitty doses.

For me it's the opposite because I do a lot of RDLs, so my lower back is solid, it is what it is.
