>any tips?
I'm very straightforward when it comes to learning language, I just read stuff and try to speak it. In fact, speaking is key
I knew a pretty good site, but it was saved on my old phone that's probably destroyed by now.
Honestly, if you just wanna travel once, google translate has become pretty accurate at translating it from english to japanese, at least.
>do they offer free lessons as well? I heard becoming an english teacher was kinda popular for foreigners there
any funny quirks of japanese culture you can tell about that you had to deal with?
I went to both free and paid ones. Uh, it depends on the teacher, but they try to make the classes fun, bot some are more serious. They usually speak a bit of english, but more advanced classes are in japanese only.
>I figured that yeah, would you say it's a generational thing as in old people are just like that and young people actually have no issues with it (aka there's a disconnect between them) or it's just like this regardless of age and generation?
Do they express disdain somehow? Do you have japanese friends? Did you ever meet like open hostility and racism, regardless of context (like a drunk dude wanted to start shit unprompted)?
The older generation is still somewhat racist, but it depends of the person. The new generations are more open-minded from what I've experienced.
I don't know how to explain it but you can feel it when someone treats you differently because you're a foreigner. But at least on the surface it's towards a positive meaning.
I've got a few japanese friends, but most are foreigners.
Open racism is actually rare here.
>What do you think is the cause of this, assuming you are polite and respect rules, is it some complex of some sort?
Possibly just blood pride
