it has always been like this
people that don't want to show off and keep to themselves are just there doing their shit, they are not trying to impress anyone (women behavior and lack of tact) or make up shit just to farm views
this is mostly done as a side hustle for money tho, narcissism and being delusional has rarely anything to do with it, and most people obviously fall for it because they lack the patience to research actually useful information themselves and just assume that the roided sloptuber that has the 'zeek they dream about it is totally correct about anything he says
you can apply the same principle to pretty much any other hobby/activity, plain and simple grifting

I dont really hate fitness youtubers, I just find it crazy that normies, or I dont even know what kind of freaks even, give them views
I also don't understand how youtube is a successful business model; when I see an AD I get angry and I would never buy that product
