Why are gym clothes made from disgusting cancer causing polyester?

Why is nothing made from cotton or linen or something else

You've made this thread before, and no answer will satisfy you. You can wear any cotton shorts and shirt to the gym, but you don't like that because cotton fucking sucks. That's it, get over it. Polyester is based anyway, it's what I look for in all of my clothes, even my underwear and undershirts are made of it. As long as you don't plan on setting yourself on fire, it's great.

it's cheaper to manufacture and people will pay just as much for it. it's odd that they've taken away the option though. i would gladly pay more for 100% cotton products but they are getting harder and harder to find. even online you often can't sort by fabric type. it's some kind of grand conspiracy to poison us all with synthetic fibers.

You cannot really do any high intensity stage 4 or 5 cardio in cotton. I tried and itโ€™s not nice. And most people come to gym for cardio only
For lifting cotton is totally fine

Mostly marketing it's cheap and can be made almost entirely with post consumer waste. So you send your plastic to asia to be recycled and they sell it right back to you.

Psychologically I think millennials and zoomers have some pathological need to look like they're from the future with all this scifi clothing that makes their ass and legs cratered with zits.

There are plenty of clothes made of cotton. You don't need gimmick "gym clothes." Clothes can't enhance your performance, but polyester can decrease it significantly.

A few reasons.
>It's cheap af even for a synthetic fabric
>It doesn't absorb water
This is beneficial in sports because it evaporates faster, it also reduces chafing because wet cotton is super bad for that.
>Easy and quick to hand wash

But it has it's downsides, polyester doesn't like sweat or oils, it starts smelling bad, it's a festering ground for bacteria. For this reason you have to wash it after every single work out. DO NOT ever use fabric softener on synthetics, fabric softener are cancer as is, but they absolutely wreck synthetics.
I personally prefer wearing cotton t-shirts and socks to the gym, but everything else is synthetic.

>Why is nothing made from cotton or linen or something else
are you stupid or something?

there's a myriad of workout clothes made out of
>merino wool
>cotton
basically all high quality /out/ stuff is merino
it also works just fine for the gym

though the fact that you don't know about this
means you probably never visited a outdoor shop and you're too poor for a 80โ‚ฌ merino shirt anyway

technically there's Nylon as well, which isn't polyester but still a polymer
so I guess you don't want it

cotton sags like shit with sweat. there are some decent oversized tees/pump covers that are 100% cotton, super thick, and heavy and even those sag after an intense session. for a tee, i think a mix of cotton and poly at about 7:3 is a good ratio.

Does anyone else wear cotton to the gym because it helps you stink less?
The polyester stuff has no way to absorb your sweat so you reek immediately due to bacteria chowing down.
Cotton clothes are way less smelly during initial workout.

This is going to sound fucking stupid, but I actually threw out all of my cotton clothing because it gave me eczema breakouts. The cotton would absorb sweat and rub my skin raw, while the polyester feels softer and cooler. Apparently cotton is supposed to be better for eczema, but fuck that shit.

Cotton clothing gets wider when it's wet, and retains the moisture strongly. That's a recipe for rubbing yourself raw. Linen isn't as bad, but similar.
Merino wool (or any fine wool, really) is the only natural fiber that makes for good gym clothes. or just work out topless.

Polyester shorts aren't as bad if you wear cotton undies. Your top priority should be ur peepee and gibbies, followed by your shirt.

You can get cotton Hanes undies and cotton tees at any big box store for cheap, or Pact for higher quality / ethically sourced.

Obviously the less plastic shit you have in your life, the better, but realistically it's a gradual process for many peepz.
