Soccer General
has anyone picked up sports to stay fit? especially football/soccer. I wanna try out for the reserve team of a local Sunday league team but I picked up a sinus infection :/

Club soccer is a shit sport to stay /fit/ because you are at the whim of other players. I'm too lazy to look up relevant webms but just look up Materazzi and similiar players. Just talk to people there and their injuries and you will find out that they are fubar'd especially the older players

Reminder that Kaka's wife left him because he was too perfect, literally. Being good looking, millionaire, famous, one of the all time greatest, loyal family man, tall is not good enough anymore.

For those zoomers that don't remember him watch the 05 CL against Liverpool, he was unplayable, never before or since have I seen a better individual performance. And yes Milan still lost. And yes he floped badly at real.

And both legs against united in 07, he would have been motm in the 05 final if it wasn't for Slippy g's team fluking 3 goals in 20 minutes

Just watched the highlights.
What the fuck happened to soccer? The recent games I've watched (or at least tried to) haven't had half the intensity of this match. Players nowadays seem to just prance around waiting to get tripped.

Couple things, it started going to shit with the Bosman rulling, kept going downhill with infinite injection of foreign capital into a few selected clubs, died and got buried with social media and var.
Players are now multimillionaires by 18 and you have them swapping jerseys with rival footballers on pitch, rivalry doesn't mean shit anymore.

Also since a Chinese pound has the same value as a geordie pound, clubs started catering to overseas "supporters" instead of their own local fanbase.
Clubs also started renegading their working class roots to appease tv money.

Football lives on sunday leagues but pro footie is dead.

Forgot to mention this, at international different countries had different styles of play almost as imitating their own national identities, from the huge talent piol and creativity of the Brazilian football, to the rigid but effective Die Mannschaft, to the dirty Italian job or the "hippie" Netherlands and so on and so forth. Nowadays is pacey negreo/white and possession all throughout the tournament. Football academies look for physical traits rather than talent so every players is just different shades of the same shit.

no passion. Ive been watching longer than some of the kids playing and its all be devolved into the winger running into the corner box and passing back to the centre forward.
Money is the only thing these people want, back in the day if someone was being traded for 50 million that meant they were a generational talent, nowadays hes just a random kid that can run fast

It's a shame. As an Aussie, I lost interest in 2006 after the bs penalty vs Italy, and just never really gave it a chance.
However watching some old videos, it really was a great game back then.
