/fat/ - Fat Loss General
>Who is /fat/ for?
For fastfood feasters working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. Not lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

Your supreme lifestyle changes where you learn everything about food and eating habits (read: ketardism) will last a few months or years at best before you go back to binging.

The drugs show that its all about calories and hunger

I've been obese since childhood because my parents always told me to eat alot to grow big and strong but I remember not wanting to eat much when I was like 5-6

Told Grok to summarize this:

To lose fat, maintain a calorie deficit with a diet you enjoy and can sustain, prioritizing protein (0.6–1g/lb body weight) and nutrient-rich foods (70–80% of intake). Combine with strength training to retain muscle, increase NEAT (e.g., 10k steps/day), and adjust calories (5–10% reduction) if progress stalls, aiming for 0.5–1% body weight loss weekly.

You're welcome.

You should be Red Foreman maxing. My coworker wanted to be friends and even told me he considered me a friend and when I didn't say anything tried to walk it back to "work buddy". I don't see any benefit in that and a lot of downsides.

What happens is when you eat carbs your insulin goes up. Insulin triggers fat storage. Then you get hungry because your body wants to store fat.

The solution is to stop eating carbs. If you snack on hard boiled eggs or zero-sugar jerky or salami or aged cheese you don't get hungry because your body will stay in fat burning mode.

It's very interesting how people who claim to believe CICO are such shameless liars.

The "parameters" referred to in your deceptively cropped screenshot are "blood pressure, lipids, fasting glucose, and insulin".

Meanwhile the study says
>The very low carbohydrate diet group lost more weight (8.5 +/- 1.0 vs. 3.9 +/- 1.0 kg; P < 0.001) and more body fat (4.8 +/- 0.67 vs. 2.0 +/- 0.75 kg; P < 0.01) than the low fat diet group.

Which you chose not to screenshot. Pic related. And here is the URL:

You can in fact eat unlimited low-carb foods and lose weight.

Here's another example. There's 7 or more studies showing unlimited calorie low-carb works as well or better than restricted calorie alternatives.

Feeel free to post your current body right now with a timestamp, which you won't do, because you're most likely obese, and you want to derail other people. The reason you posted the picture that you did is an attempt to prevent people from reverse image searching it, which is why it's a screenshot of a post that was made literally four years ago. it took me a while to find the detailed breakdown of this study, they kept track of the calories each group ate per day and the low carb group ate on average 1400 calories, they also ate less calories than the low fat group.

this is far from "unlimited calories" like you said.

Yes. Hypercaloric protein diets don't cause increased body fat. See: >>76549005

Literally the only thing that can fatten humans is carbohydrate.

You can eat fattier meat though for satiety. Pure protein isn't satiating. I prefer eating 1:1 protein to fat by weight. Zero carb of course.

Beef has more nutrients than chicken, such as creatine and carnitine. So I'd suggest eating medium or regular ground beef. Bacon is also preferable to chicken.
