Do what Mike actually did when he was actively training instead of what promoted in the late 90's. The one set thing even within Mike's work is just the logical starting point. The long rest times were just an overreaction to true hard-gainers that ended up in his last book.

I dunno, the one video I've seen of him traning back in the day he was doing heavy sets of squats with a couple of other big name guys. Like multiple sets, none of this one or two set shit.

There's not really any videos of Mike training. The only videos with Mike are a 1980 video with his brother and the one with Marcus Reinhart.
