I prefer swimming but I swear when I go swimming, it's usually just old people and women. Most of the guys I see in the gym never use the pool. And its a fucking nice pool we have.

I find when I get my heart rate up into zone 2 with swimming it feels like insanely hard effort, with running on the road its very easy to get into zone 2, much easier than on a bike, and then to maintain it is also easy, breathing effortlessly, heart rate in other activities stays to low to make it worth it for me
also I hate swimming

erging is way better. 5k sprints will have the most shredded looking rowers puking into buckets with 200+bpm after just several minutes.
skiing is next best cardio. racing down a mogul course is insane for cardio. still, rowing crew is the most intensive.
Never gotten as lean with cycling as I have with running. Injuries are more frequent though: at least once a year I'll have to dial it back to look after one knee or the other.
