I had my best results doing one or more of the 5 groups on any given day (chest, shoulders, back, legs, arms) until "failure". Failure meaning, failed the weight, even if I could drop it slightly and continue I wouldn't. I would just stop that group.
I made sure to always do " more" total weight, so maybe that was more reps at slightly lower or fewer at higher.
I would then do the hardest part, wait for the muscle group to fully recover. For something like cheat this could be as long as 5 days because I wanted a deep soreness 2 days after a good chest day.
Natty lifter, never achieved any individual impressive results, but in aggregate it was good. I could run 10k with ease, do pull ups, squat above body weight and ruck 70lbs for many miles. Until I trashed my lower back (a little too much all at once for the back) and then my wife left me...that took a while to recover from. I went from doing 2.5 hour runs after leg day to not being able to walk 2 miles my heart was so weak from the pain. All that time in the gym, all those years working out never prepared me for the hardest lift I'd ever lifted...the weight of my feelz. Maybe I should have done more bodyweight work before, seeing as how I had to be strong enough to get over myself.
