you dyels convinced me that barbell compound lifts were the the be-all, end-all of weightlifting but turns out it's all about isolation and legthen-biased lifts with high intensity ? wtf. it's all becoming clear now why the actual jacked guys at the gym are doing mostly machines and cables, meanwhile the reddit nerds are doing DLs and bench but are still small.

So from what i see the guy trained his compounds but had twig arms. Then he didn't have any isolations in his program. Which you should on top of the compounds. Two months in i already put in a tricep and bicep exercise.

Obviously the first year a minimalist routine is the best approach to build some strength.

Your tendon strength wont progress without freeweights and your aesthetic wont flow as much maining machines unless ofc you need more hypertrophy.

Then why the fuck do freeweights grow biceps so easily but tris delts chest need machines? Forearms legs abs all fine with freeweights. I dont even train neck and when i flex i look like fuckin dracula from berserker flexed this shit is fucking retarded.

So if you're at intermediate+ level then you need a bunch of isolation if you chase hypertrophy.
That's not really revolutionary, is it?
Do a full body strength routine with a few accessories and then switch to a bb routine. That's been the recommendation for at least 15 years.

im a machine advocate but those who truly use machines well come from free-weight background. for ex, kids who start learning fly don't know how to use pec dec fly properly, but those who come from dumbbell fly surely do.

Retard. Wrong. Nothing worse than a noob doing highly technical (to them) lifts when you can just actually spam machines to failure and actually grow

No he is implying that a minimal compound routine doesn't give the body to match the numbers. He looked ok but not for the numbers he has. He could look like that doing virtually any routine consistently. His body didnt reallt look good until dropping the minimalist routine.

Wow another boring ass youtube fitness "influencer" who's just a contrarian retard on a crusade against tried and tested methods that just so happen to be backed by sience but not by "noblenatty" faggot consensus!
You should TOTALLY listen to what he has to say I bet it's not clouded by the fact that muscle building is an incredibly slow process no matter how you train and it's really just him adding one or two meme exercises that EXPLODED his gains and not the fact that he has several years of additional training!

absolute moronic commentary. He doesn't mention volume once. He talks about his numbers, his reps...its all a pointless comparison.
If you do sufficient volume with compounds with equal number of sets as your "body building hypertrophy split" and you're not just shooting for singles, you will be bigger, faster.
Don't waste 45 minutes every workout doing isolation memes. Use 2 accessories and spend your time going heavy on high volume.
Anonymous No.76589728 >>76591120
compound lifts are good because they train lots of muscle groups quickly

compound exercises are for people with lives. If you want to spend 2-3 hours in the gym every day with isolations / machines, then go ahead and do it and be bigger.

1. spam machines
2. grow specific muscles
3. help a neighbor move a sofa. confident because big numbers on the machine mean big strength!
4. injure back instantly because the big muscles are without any support

I agree with you but compounds don't train some muscles, such as lateral deltoids.
Also, you can add only one set of curls and tricep extensions.

this is the universal wisdom that every single person guiding newbies away from machines will give you, and it's what you have to reply to if you're going to say anything else.

We used to do that over a decade ago with a group of friends. Doing nothing but machines. Once you go do free-weights afterwards you notice how weak you actually still are. But yeah you do get muscles from it.

it goes both ways, if all you do are barbell lifts, once you switch to machines that force you to be extremely strict, you realise your 200 lbs barbell row amounts to fuck all for a strict biceps curl and you have to use newbie weights to do it right

But you get stronger on machines too. I can probably bench and squat more than you and can definitely deadlift more (tall long arms starter pack)

>you dyels convinced me that barbell compound lifts were the the be-all, end-all of weightlifting
They kinda are. I mean machines and isolations can work but the ones that do are arguably similar to barbell compounds. The trick isn't doing gay shit. It's doing more than 3 lifts. Did you even watch the video? His argument is that you need more than 3 barbell compounds, not something other than them.

Not really, his argument was that pushing for more strength and to be stronger on SBD didn't get his physique that much better

Instead, it was only when he swapped out SBD for more stable lifts and also trained his other previously "accessory" lifts with the same intensity he trained with SBD that he saw greater results

BB is a machine bro and that's fine. There's also tons of very elite naturals who are big into free weights. I do think heavy free weight compound lifts confer their own advantage and so starting of with getting strong on them is the most efficient way. Now there's clearly limited returns on investment as you push the limits of strength and start to specialize in SBD and thats where the trouble is. Pushing isolations with the same intensity as compounds is only beneficial though.
>>76594131
The noble natty community has always been about high natural standards. No body thinks they are natural because of personality and training age but if you think you cannot look like that natty ever you are just mistaken.
